BEEMER!

Does anybody know this guy?

It sounds like he bought up the old inventory and is putting together "New" Bren Tens.  I had heard that all the 'large' parts that were left over were rejects and not worth using, but that is just a rumor.

His asking price is above what an original in nice shape would run, I don't get it.

A while back he had the original blueprints listed for $50K or $60K

Not for me.

Also breaks my heart that he created a "race gun" and that he cerakoted a couple of them.

The castings were probably so bad that had to coat them to cover something up.

Beemer,I was looking at those yesterday.  The serial numbers of the frames didn't match to what some were...
I'll post more later on... ???

He's probably grabbing the best frame and the best slide that is close to fitting and trying to build a gun that works.

The slide on the 'Race Gun' was probably notched to remove flaws, coating to hide weld-ups, etc.

Good point.

And that brings up your point of what we don't get.  Why would I pay a premium for a Bren Ten that needed notches, weld-ups and coatings to hide imperfections.

You are spot on, this guy is just trying to make a buck on the unwary.

As best I could make out the serial numbers on each item...
GB Item # 694832212  BT 84SFD0575
GB Item # 694831775  BT 83MP00213
GB Item # 694830979  BT 84SFD0568
GB Item # 694830445  BT 83MP00286
GB Item # 694828338  BT 83SM0154?  Not marked as SF

These do raise an eye brow  ::)

BEEMER!

He explains what he is doing kinda in his description.

GB Item # 694830979  BT 84SPD00568 - The P you have is an "F", Special Forces Dark

I am sure it was reject frames and slides.  I read somewhere that someone was at the shop at the end and there were barrels of reject slides.  Either bad castings or problems with the heat treatment.

The gunsmiths were assembling the pistols at that time with the aid of bench grinders.

I fixed that one 84SFD00568, don't know why it got messed up, it was right in my word document, go figure.  Also the 0 was suppose to be a the D in that serial # and fixed 83MP00213 also.   Thanks for catching that...I added those to my files yesterday to sort of track whats out there.

Too bad, I kind of like that last one.

What are they using for magazines I wonder?  THAT was THE issue back in the day...one got the gun....but mags were unobtanium.

I think the entire Bren ten concept is simply cursed. NEVER to truly become available or mainstream...EVER.  LOL.

Perhaps altered Witness mags?

As far as the concept never becoming mainstream, gotta say I can't agree.  The CZ-97 and the large frame EAA Witness guns are great examples of what the Bren Ten could have been.

And, the polymer framed decendents like the Witness P-Match and the CZ-P07 seem like the evolution of the concept.

I recently purchased a bren ten frame in the white, no finish machining done.

Is is amazingly similar to my Witness frames.

The guy selling these Brens has been selling magazines for a year or two.  The first mags were built by mecgar and were supposed to be able to handle 45 ACP and 10mm.  They proved to be unreliable for the 10mm so new ones had to be made and that put D&D in a hole.

I assume that these are reworked rejects.
