SIG P220 10mm

For those of you that have a SIG P220 10mm, how  do you like it?  I'm thinking about getting the reverse two tone DA/SA version.

I have the one show in the OP, and IIRR, the da/sa only comes in that reverse two tone.

As to like, no.... LOVE it.  It's a tack driver and it's heavy so recoil even with hot loads are easy to take.
about 1k rounds thru it so far and not one failure with 7 types of ammo, including reloads
( if you do reload, you'll love that the cases expand a lot less then in the loose G20 )

Only con i have is it could have been double stacked a bit

PS..the 220 - .45 mags fit and work fine for me, and allow an extra round....not that I would use one if carried, but it nice to have extras mags for the range.

Sorry, no... it's to pretty to haul in the woods 

In woods I take my G20 as I can beat it up and it still fires... and if for some reason it gets lost/damaged , it's a lot cheaper to replace.

I've been reading and searching on the Sig 220 10mm.   Aside from the obvious da/sa vs SAO, all the internals are exactly the same.  All have srt trigger. 

They all have the same barrel. 

They are stainless steel with different finishes. 

Basically get whatever controls you want, and the finish you want. 

I'm looking at this gun to MILL a red dot on.   I've had a 226 for years that I've milled for an RMR.

Got the two tone DA/SA, and like it very much, better then my 2 RIA's. But then I'm a DA/SA person! I don't have but about 300 rounds through it now, as been shooting something else, but will be working on my '500' on it soon.   

I have tried the 45 cal 10 round mag. Even after disassembling, clean & lube, on the first round bullet 'nose-dives' and hangs up. A hit on the bottom of the mag fixes, with everything else working normal. But with fac. 10mm mags, works every time!

FYI, after my last session with the RIA FS HC found the back sites ready to fall off! Very easy to re-secure, but still not good!

Never tried the ten round mags... standard 8 round clips from 220-45 worked for me without issue tho i wouldn't use them for carry.

I was able to get to the range yesterday with the SIG P220 10mm.  What a awesome pistol.  I shot 50 rounds of SIG 180 gr FMJ and 50 rounds of PPU 180 gr JHP.

The PPU is WIMPY, but the SIG stuff seems to be in line with what 10mm ammo should be.  I love the gun.  Recoil isn't bad, it's reliable and accurate.

I have the two tone DA/SA with fixed sights.   Love that pistol.   It is far more accurate than I can ever be.   

I liked a little thicker grip on it, so I put on a pair of Hogue overmoulded rubber grips for the P220.   Inside the grip channel I had to snip out a small piece of rubber where it was preventing the decocker from working smoothly.   I think there are several revisions of the Hogue grips for the P220.  Not sure which is a best fit for this model.

Anyway with the rubber grips on it feels much better in the hands - entirely subjective - more positive grip and less felt recoil/shock when the pistol is fired.   But I've done the same thing to my P220 .45 acp  about 25 years ago and never regretted it.   Those grips are still going strong with no wear or deterioration.

I've posted in the past about using the P220 .45 acp mags in the 10mm.  Still never had a single malfunction, well over 1500 rounds now thru it.

If you do shoot both the .45 acp and 10mm P220's and plan to share magazines...   Make sure and double check everytime that a 10mm round does not end up in the magazine for your .45 acp.   I didn't one time and it was truly scary and I consider myself lucky that the P220 did not get any damage.   Luckily  I was shooting plinking/target loads at the time.   Full power load could have been catastrophic.
