Ed Brown just announced they are now selling the "LS10"

Long slide, 6" barrel, single stack, 10mm with reflex optic on slide. Fairly basic looking flat black, wood grips, 3.25 moa rmr, and tall co-witness night sights.

There is 1 available on the website right now if you gotta have 1.... $3999.00 , What a steal !

Love to see more offerings in 10mm, but I'm sure the price will prohibit high sales numbers on this one.

No doubt a wonderful pistol. Bit out of my price range though.  But I think it is pointing out the natural evolution of the 10mm to 6" barrels.  It negates most of the recoil on the hottest of loads, cuts the slide velocity waaaay down (at least in my G40) and protects the gun from excessive beating.  Of course it is a big brick of a gun but it's a good trade off for hunting and some field uses.  Premium 6" barrels give amazing velocities that are still easy to shoot/hit with.

Just my opinion but I think the 10mm is just now coming into to it's finest hour.

BTW... I am not selling the G29 or G20.  They have a place as well.   ;D

I don't disagree that longer barrels and reciprocating mass really help realize the full potential of 10mm in ballistics.

But....

I would really like to see some more competitors to the G29.  I was looking at P229's in 40 S&W last night and thinking that I would love to see something of that quality and size, but in a 10mm.  My glock 29 is a great gun, but it doesn't have any "soul".

Longslide 10mm's are really functional as hunting arms and as range toys.  Not so much for EDC.

Yep!  Its ridiculous that these 1911 clones are being CNC'ed by everyone these days and they are commanding such a out of proportioned 10mm price as compared to 45ACP and even the 9mm versions.  ???  RIA, Ruger and Remington are in that 1911  market at a better price point.  I could likely buy two of each the G20, G-29 and G-40 for the price of one Ed Brown... ::)

I will say that Glock is way ahead of the curve here, with a down to earth piece that is so simplistic and can with stand the weather elements and be economical enough to be affordable by most shooters.  I also like the fact that conversion barrels for various cartridges will add to functionality and versatility!  8)

BEEMER!

I had my mind all set to buy a Les Baer 10mm Long Slide.  Baer is local to where I live and he contributes to out local Friend of NRA Committee that I chair.

I could not find one under about $2600.  If I had someone local order one it's 10 months.

Remington comes out with $100 rebates and guns in stock.  Mine came in at an even $900.  I have only had it out once but I was impressed with that outing.  It was 100% reliable and seems to be as accurate as I am so I'm happy.

Very true. The G29 carries pretty nicely, but I would like more options. Everything else is huge. I'd like to see a smaller GP, I bet they could do it .

My personal candidate for a G29 competitor would be on the old Beretta Cougar platform.  The 8357 and 8045 fit my hand perfectly. The weight and action handle recoil well.

Just guessing, but I don't think you finished your JMB koolaid.  Ed Brown does the best stainless machine work - hands down.

I think it's fair to compare Glocks to Rock Island Armory 1911s when your talking cost.  But we're still waiting on a talent the magnitude of Ed Brown to take an interest in the Glock platform.  Them Zev boys are the closest I've heard of and they aren't playing in Ed Brown's league yet.  But, the Zev does demonstrate what happens to the cost when you take a fine functioning pistol and refine it to make it betterer.

Nobody "needs" a pistol at the level Brown offers, but almost anyone with a pulse can pick the Brown out of a stack of Colts ... blindfolded even.

At that price you could get a Night Hawk Custom or Wilson Combat in 10mm. I did. I paid less than that for my brand new NHC Recon Enforcer 10mm.
