On my MacBook (I have to assume iMac is the same,) if the photo is in iPhoto, first thing I do is to copy it, then paste it onto the desktop.  (I do this because I am unaware of any way to reduce using iPhoto.)
Once it is on the desktop, open it with "Preview."  Once it opens, you will see "Tools" listed along the top of the screen (along with "File," "Edit," "View," etc.)
Open "Tools," and you will see the option for "Adjust Size."  You will be able to change the numbers to get the size you are looking for.  Also opening the "Adjust Size" option will show you the size of the picture in kb or mb.

Sorry I don't have a cool video, but hopefully this helps!  :)

KZero, that's (almost) how I had done it...once, a long time ago.  I had to search further - sorry Shadow, I always seem to forget about YouTube! - and following those steps, I had to hit Save, then I could load & post.

Thanks guys,

Sam
