Good balanced article.
I personally don't buy the 10mm is for hunters angle. (Not that 10mm is bad for a handgun hunter ) Just that many more people than hunters like 10mm.

I agree. The 10mm is a fine self defense round as well.

Thanks for the post, thought I had missed a very important article in my American Rifleman and I went back and looked at it again with no luck.  Realized it was an American Rifleman online article that I missed.

I stopped reading after I read this part:

"As a defensive pistol in wilderness scenarios, where the target might be various pack animals—wolves, hyenas, jackals, hogs or even the big African cats—the 10 mm is a viable choice as an emergency gun."

African game hunters tracking lions or tigers would laugh at that ridiculous comment. A .44 magnum or larger as an "emergency gun," maybe. Anything smaller, less powerful is ludicrous. I don't agree with this guy's opinion that 10mm is only a hunter's gun. I sold off all of my 1911 .45 ACP pistols and only have 10mm 1911 pistols. Full power 10mm is all I carry. Most handgun calibers are not adequate for stopping humans. The full power 10mm gets a lot closer.
