There are also some good reports coming out of Alaska about the G20 doing a decent job on big bear.  Personally I think it is a pretty big stretch even as a last ditch weapon for big bitey things. The 30-06 as a main weapon seems small as well.  The 475 Linebaugh revolver fits the need better IMO.  But there seems to be a counter point giving some advantage to the advantage to the G20 (even more so to the G40).  If a bear charges you are lucky to get a single shot into a charging bear before it gets to you.  1 shot and you must hit.  It takes time do drive big bore loads back down out of recoil and line the sights up.  Only a very seasoned shooter can handle the power anyway.  While every shot from the 10mm might not connect, 6 or 8 bullets of substance entering a charging bear should have some effect (per what happened to the Sirius soldier).  The noise does not hurt either.

It's not a perfect world.  The 10mm is IMO doing better than it has a right to.  I am sure the G20 is not perfect for this mission but it just may be the perfect compromise if all things are considered and weighed.  Maybe, anyway.

I agree. Not to mention the G20 as a semi auto most likely sheds snow and ice batter than the intricacies of a revolver.

Thanks for the video.  Those guys might put Admiral Byrd to shame.  I am quite sure they picked the best handgun in the world for their purposes.
