Grand Power . . . is your mag falling out for no reason?

Do you have a Grand Power and your mags are falling out for no reason? The profile on some of the mag catches was wrong and under heavy recoil the mag catch would loose contact and let the mag go. Very, very annoying. I thought it was just me at first and tried to train around it. Finally broke down and contacted Eagle Imports after being contacted by one of their people on the interwebs who read my post about the mags falling out.

Learn from my mistake, contact Eagle Imports and get it fixed. I'm a gunsmith so they sent me the parts when I asked nice. Don't be surprised if they ask you to send in the gun or send it to one of their authorized repair places.

Now my Grand Power 10mm is everything I hoped it would be since the silly mag falling out thing got taken care of. Maximum power with low recoil in a package the right size and weight to tromp around the woods with.

Great gun. Very well made. I finally have the take down and re-assembly worked out and it's almost easy now. Icky learning curve on the re-assemble part.

Did you see the pictures in the thread where we had a discussion on it? IMO you could see the differences and I suspected that all along.

I sent Mine in for repair. Came back with same issues. Apparently the gunsmith I sent it to didn't get the bulletin.  He just reworked the mag catch  Windows.

Mine ran fine today... no mag drops.
Can you post a pic of the new mag catch?

Thanks for the information.  I would definitely like to see a picture of the new mag catch as well.  Do you have a part number for the new one?

Talked to Eagle Imports, they were unaware if alternate mag catch were available. They directed me to Colorado Gun Works to inquire about the matter. I called CGW and was told that they were, in fact, waiting to receive the new mag catch from Grand Power and to check back in around two weeks.

This is the same info I received via email from Eagle imports. Parts a week out.....From the email.....

"We have talked to our supervisors, and a special shipment of parts from Grand Power is coming in the next week or so. We recommend you send your gun this time specifically to Colorado Gun Works, who will be receiving these parts to fix this particular issue.

Here is the information for this gunsmith:

Colorado Gun Works

2333 South State Road 67, Lyons, IN 47443
Tel: 812-659-4867
email: gunsmith@coloradogunworks.com

Send the gun in to Colorado Gun Works with a magazine so the gun can be test-fired, a note with your contact information and an brief explanation of what you found wrong with the gun, and a copy of the gun's receipt (if available). This gunsmith should be able to rectify the problem and return the gun back to you.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns, and we will do what we can to assist you."

So Eagle Imports did know about the part? They really need to get their info shared. The guy who was on the online chat function had no idea about it, when I talked to them today. EI is just an import business, how is it that this kind of info isn't filtered out to the people who are suppose to be answering the public's questions? It's the same as when I asked about the weight of the new silver recoil springs, they didn't even know what weight the spring was being shipped with. The main company is not filling me with confidence about their commitment to their customers.

Has anyone contacted Colorado Gun Works in Indiana to get this repair?

Has it worked?

Can we get the parts for our installation ourselves instead of the shipping cost?

I sent mine to Colorado Gun Works and it took about 3 weeks from door to door and back again. The magazine release is MUCH stronger now, I can't see how it would release via recoil. I did not try to get the parts so I can't answer that question.

CGW did my repair as well.  It was about a month door to door.  It doesn't have the problem now and like the previous poster said.  The magazine release is stiff.

Just got my P40 back from CGW.  Haven't had time to take it out and shoot it. The mag catch is noticeably stiffer.

dcale101

I hope they fixed the issue for you.
