Narrowed it down to Sig 220 Elite or DW Bruin? I know big price difference but gonna get one of them. Anyone shot both? Which handles recoil better? Any problem reported from either? Anything would help.
Love looks of both.

Can't go wrong with either option.

I can't imagine concealed carry with a Bruin, but I can with the Sig as it is basically the same size as a 5" 1911, though a touch thicker.  That might decide it.

Haven't done the DW, but have the Sig *
there are 3 different models, some with adjustable sights, also with one model being a da/sa if that floats your boat.

I love the gun, cost was there but what the heck , can't take it with you ( let the wife buy it for me )
So far aprox 800-1k rounds thru it all ammo types and not one failure.
Will say at 40 oz weight it does tame some of the warm rounds down

What you intend to use it for might be a factor. I have the Sig and the lack of a grip safety is a definite plus for me. So far as I remember that feature was included as the 1911s were expected to be used on horseback by soldiers who might otherwise limp wrist the gun. Might even be true. You can also increase the magazine capacity of the Sig by getting a magazine for the P220/45ACP that will hold at least 10 10MM and will work fine.

Sig 220 10mm. Have DA/SA and SAO versions both.
Have RIA 10mm 5" single stack too. I agree with above comments, but unless you are totally sold on 1911 as you BFF, Sig 220.
Sure I wish Sig offered more models (shorter barrels & non cammo finishes) But it's an awesome pistol

SIG. Have the SA/DA version. Love it and it shoots accurately. Can't ask for much more.

Have you thought about the DW Silverback 10mm? I've got one and it's a great 10mm that handles the factory watered down 10mm (that's equivalent to .40 S&W loads) that Sig and most common ammo companies manufactures as well as the full load 10mm from Underwood Ammo. The Bruin has that ungainly 6" barrel length that is a bit long for concealed carry. So, that's an unfair comparison with that Sig 10mm pistol. The Silverback is a lot more versatile and handy a 10mm pistol.

I'm not knocking the DW sliverback, but how can you call it more versatile & handy. (Just because it's a 1911?)
Sorry none of my guns are handier than another. Versatility is very subjective, I'm not going to go there.

PS I'm not aware that any models of Sig 220 10mm are still in production except the camo one. So if you see any other models that you like, you should consider purchasing it.

I have the Bruin and consider it exceptional. As a basis of comparison, I also had a G20, still have a G40 and an STI Perfect 10. I am only interested in 10mms with 6 inch barrels so the Sig isn't an option for me. If you want a 1911, I don't see how you could do better with any other production (not custom) 1911. Mine is accurate and reliable. The trigger is better than my other 10mms and the iron sights are perfect just as they are.

I've been shooting mostly handloaded 180s but will be shooting some 200 grain hardcast tomorrow morning. 200 grain XTPs function fine with a COL of 1.250 but these Beartooth and Montana Bullet Works WFN 200 grainers won't fit in the magazine at that length so I have seated them to 1.240. We'll see how they shoot tomorrow.

How does the Bruin compare in recoil to the G20, G40, or STI? Which is your favorite?

sep

The G40 has the most felt recoil, followed by the Bruin, then the STI. My favorite? That's a tough one.

I shot both the Bruin and the STI this morning with 200 grain WFNPB handloads for hunting and woods defense. I like the trigger and sights better on the Bruin but the STI is a great pistol too. Accuracy between the two is comparable. If you want a slimmer more traditional 1911 then the Bruin gets the nod. If you want a double stack pistol which handles recoil very well then the STI would be hard to beat.
