Additional item I now inspect

I have looked over all of the cases after cleaning, during the process of the pass-thru die and I found something that I have over looked.  While reloading this morning I found three cases that were small primer cases.  It took a lot of effort to seat the primers compared to the large primer cases.   . I'm just kidding on setting the primers, but it is something that I stopped the presses for and reinspected my cases for.

Something everyone might want to add to their inspection process.

Yes they usually have the "NT" (Non Toxic primer which is a small primer) on the headstamps...

You are spot on with the "NT" marking.  All three cases had the headstamp that is in the attached image.

Yes, also understand that these "NT" primered cases may even have staked in primers in some instances.  If they will were staked they will need to have that staking removed or uniformed for better primer seating.  The staking is not as sever as military staking.

I'm still pretty new to the 10mm platform so I'm not sure if there is any value to the reloader to use the small primer case?  I don't have plans to throw the small primer cases away, but not sure if I will ever reload them.  I don't ever recall being able to buy small primer cases in all of my searches, so far.

I had only gotten about 10 of these SPP brass for 10mm...during times of component shortages I figure that they would be useful if LPP were not available...But I do maintain some reserve stock just in case.

When you get right down to hard stats, a small primer will provide slightly better accuracy than a large primer.  And I do mean slightly.  Like .030" at 100 yards from the very best benchrest guns in the hands of the very best shooters.

Now, matches at that level are one and lost based on 3 hundredths of an inch sometimes.  But .030" matters not to a bottle of water I am shooting.  If someone gave me 1K, I would deal with the headache.  But for three cases....in the scrap bucket they would go.

Probably won't scrap them rather set them aside so when the day comes and the small primer cases take over I will have a head start!

I see more and more 45ACP brass with small primers now.
