Trip to the range with the Witness hunter. I came back home and made this

I finally got out with the Witness Hunter after installing the Henning trigger. Love the new trigger and the way the pistol shoots now. The problem was that I lost close to half of my brass and these were powder puff loads. I spent some time on the internet and found this brass catcher design. I had everything on hand to make it except the fiberglass rods. I found them for a couple of bucks each at Lowes.

I will try to get out again when satisfactory weather comes around. Either too hot or pouring rain lately. By the way, does anyone know what the trigger pull is with the Witness factory trigger? I neglected to check mine before removing it. It is 4.25# now. That may not be much lighter but I polished it while I had it out and it feels a lot better now. I really like the flat trigger.

I sure hope so. I have three 10's now and I don't shoot any of them as much as I would like because of the brass loss.

The problem I have is something that small misses brass if I set up targets for transitions.

Since I usually don't go to a "range" and just find an empty section of desert, I plan to get a 10X10 canopy, and then put that mesh on three walls.  I can put down a tarp, put the canopy over it, and put the mesh on the walls, and all my brass will stay in a 10X10 space.

We will see how reality aligns with expectation once I finally get time to build it.

My range has two banks of 8" steel plates and a dueling tree so I am shooting from a fixed position most of the time. Still miserable hot outside today so it looks like I will be a while before I try this out.

At the private range I go o we have brass catchers between the shooting lanes. Works great for .45, 9mm, .380 etc., but the 10s just go up and over. Or bounce off the overhead.

I bought the first Delta Elite I could find when they came out along with a 20 round box of Norma ammo. I had a buddy standing behind me to retreive the brass as I shot. I think we ended up with less than half of that brass on that trip and it has not improved much over the years.

The brass catching guy concept is awesome, just don't have anyone to do that when I go out
