Boycott!

Every gun doesn't have to be a1911. Dime a dozen but they all want $1,000+.

And every gun doesn't have to be polymer! :)

I like seeing our 'niche' cartridge see more offerings :)

Not going to boycott myself as I love seeing Ruger at least producing something in 10mm. I would like to see Ruger, S&W, etc produce other models for us to enjoy! But that's not going to happen if they don't hear or see support from the shooting community.

Bud's Gun Shop $714 + free shipping. Not sure I want an 8-shot 40oz 1911 though...  ::)

I wonder if companies today making 10mm's in the 1911 platform is just them being lazy?

Let's face it, the 10mm market in my opinion is just not big enough to tool up for and go through the testing to bring a new design to market.

This is just a guess on my part, but only about 1 in 10 new gun designs are a financial success and last more than a year or two.

Lastly, gun makers produce what will sell and 1911's will always sell in the U.S.

This.
I have 2 10mm 1911's, a DE and a RIA. Meh, lets see a revolver or something different or innovative.

I wouldn't mind seeing Dan Wesson chamber a 10mm-version of their revolver.  Same goes for the Ruger GP-100, or Redhawk.  Especially, since Ruger made a .44 Special.  A lot of the polymer-giants, also have as of yet, neglected the 10mm.  Can you say:  FN, CZ, H&K, Walther, Springfield Armory, and Beretta?

Innovative? Like the Stryk B platform?

Speaking as a Die hard 10mm fan, here is the problem I have with a boycott.

Ruger is a big dog in the market.  They are watched by lots of others. The better their offering performs, the more likely others will follow.

I am a fan of the 1911.  I do feel it is a over-pushed in this day and age.  But it is a solid platform that does work.  And, as mentioned above, it is comparitively easy to make one in an alternate caliber.

I don't think the SR1911 is for everyone.  But I think it is a great option for a American made 1911 in my favorite caliber.  Cheaper than a DE and a far better build.

Good points and if they had been available when I bought my DE I would have purchased the Ruger instead. Not going to boycott, just not going to buy 'another' 1911 10mm. Now if they had a revolver, either SA or DA I'd be all over it.

Agreed...and I don't mean to suggest that everyone should buy one just cause.

But if you are in the market for a 10mm, and the Ruger meets your needs it is a solid gun.  (I hope.)

I am a fan of the 10mm auto and a 10mm revolver just doesn't appeal to me because Of the .357, 41 and 44.
