I posted this in a new thread as well, but I am hoping for some input and feedback on this one. My goal was to replicate the original Norma loadings as well as the current Buffalo Bore loads for the 10mm. I have no intentions of re using the brass on these loads, nor of using them a lot. Just a nice true 10mm power level carry  and hunting load. I am using 180gr Gold DOts, new Starline brass, WW primers, and AA#9. I started with 14.0 grains and worked up in .2gr increments but stopped at 14.8 which was the highest powder charge I could find in any manual (Accurate's old manual, for a 190gr bullet)

At 14.6 gr I had exceelent accuracy, and a SD of only 11FPS. velocity measure 1375 average from the 5 inch bbl of my Colt Delta Elite. 14.8 grains still showed no indications of high pressure like smiley faced brass but also yielded no more velocity so I have settled on the 14.6 load. The 80 I just loaded up will likely last me te rest of my life and then some as other than some function testing I do not plan to use them unless there is a crisi looming i.e. legitimate self defense although I amy try to shoot a deer with that load once as well. Those of you who load and shoot the 10mm a lot, what do you say about this load and my methodology. I am an old hand a rifle cartridge loading but a newbie in the world of high pressure semi auto cartridge loading. THANKS! Mark

I don't see anything wrong with the load, per se. If there is one quibble, I would say that any load that I would want to depend on has been tested in volume in my setup. All my mags. Slow fire, rapid fire, etc. I want to know that a round will cycle when it counts. Sometimes hotter loads have ways of finding ways to trip up an auto-loader.

What common accepted standards are you referring to?
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

My turn.  My hot loads for plinking and blowing up gallon water jugs:  165 grain jhp Zeroes mounted in starline 10 mm brass with Winchester Large Pistol primers pushing 11.5 grains of Blue dot.   :D     Of course everything doesn't blow up like in the reality TV gun shows, but it comes close....

Bro KV

Following this thread! I am getting excited to get my reloading stuff set up finally

Here are loads I use with the Hornady 200 XTP's (All of the warnings do apply!  :'( )
Blue Dot  10.5 grains, CCI 300, COAL 1.255" 1180-1220 fps 5" barrel  QL 42,628 PSI
IMR 800X 9.4 grains, CCI 300, COAL 1.255" 1240+ fps 5" barrel         QL NO value for IMR 800X
Long Shot  9.4 grains, CCI 300, COAL 1.255" 1240+ fps 5" barrel        QL 58,823 PSI
Power Pistol 8.0 grains, CCI 300, COAL 1.255" 1200 +/- fps 5" barrel   QL 36,881 PSI

All loads hand weighed!  Verified!  Shot thru my guns as they are setup!

PS. if someone has Quick Loads and wants to crunch the numbers to verify...OK by me!

Yes the S&W 1006 with 22 Wolff recoil spring, 5" barrel for those and slighty slower from the G-29.  Oh BTW it was probably 90 deg. or more, near sealevel with humidity so heavy you wonder why the heck bother!  :o

The humidity is the one thing I don't miss from Indiana and eastern Texas.  I love the arid climate in the West!

Bro KV

I spent a lot of time in Wichita on the Boeing airstrip working in the planes when it was over 100 degrees and seemed like 100% humidity.

My one and only load so far is a 180 lfp Penn bullet with 8.8 gr LongShot, shot out of my Delta Elite.  Nowhere near a max load, but has a REALLY nice "pop" to it.  This is the load used that I finally figured out my sights are hitting to the left....(at first I just thought it was me and couldn't handle the recoil of the 10mm).  At this point, until I decide to experiment with JHP/FMJ bullets.....I'm good to go.  Tracy

Well after I did the pull-down of the SwampFox 40S&W ammo, that blew up deadandgone's g-29, I took the salvaged componnets to put together some of my cast 156 grain HP's over 7.2 grains of LongShot in the 40S&W cases.
These should run 1140 fps give or take...I'll have to test for leading if any.

However, I took the 35 Speer 165 grain (Bonded) Gold Dot HP's and loaded them to the Underwood load data of 10.2 grains of IMR800X, seated to 1.2500" in brand new Star-Line cases.  This would be a great Self Defense load...
The 165 gr XTP is what Underwood was using, but I expect the Gold Dots to perform at the same velocity.
Muzzle Velocity: 1400 fps
Muzzle Energy: 718 ft. lbs
