I stopped at the Cabelas in Hamburg, PA today. I got to hold / inspect a Kimber Eclipse in 10mm and the Remington R1 Hunter.

I liked them both, but I really liked the feel of the Kimber. I like the grip feel, sights, and cosmetics.

The R1 was nice too. The slide was a little bit of a looser fit than the Kimber. But the 6 inch barrel and slide were nice.

All in all, I liked the Kimber better. But the Kimber was also more expensive.

Any thoughts, experiences with the two?

I owned an Eclipse in 10mm.   Very nice shooter.   The only problem with the gun was the slide stop was engaging about 1/2 way thru a mag.   This actually seems to be a pretty common 1911 issue.   I've read about the same thing here several times with different 1911's.   Used a small file and the problem was fixed permanently in < 5 minutes.

Thanks for the information. I am taking a hard look at the Eclipse.

I have the Remington R1 LS hunter. Very well put together, and it's tack driver.  Nothing wrong with the Kimber, but I prefer the 6 inch barrel of the Remington. The Kimber 6 inch barrel option is to rich for my blood. If you prefer the 5 inch barrel then the Eclipse would be fine choice as would the camp guard 10 which looks sweet too.

I also have a Kimber Eclipse in 10mm and love it!! I did have some issues with it at first and had to send it back in but, it runs fine now  :)

Thanks guys.

GT what type of issues did you have with your Eclipse?

I have eclipse as well and I have an issue with it. Runs out of ammo faster than I can reload [emoji12]

Well lets see, FTF, badly torn brass ,slide would not lock back, lot's  of stove pipes, and up by the ejection port it looked like a Gold Wedding band from the brass hitting the port. Kimber fixed it but it took 7 weeks. The pistol shoots fine now however it's not as trusty as my Colt Delta. It's not a perfect 10 but darn close and a real great shooter!!
