Concealed Carry for Alaska Trip

Going to Alaska to see my daughter (mid/late summer) and will also be hiking and fishing while I'm there. All my larger calibers in 10's, etc are longslides or 6" plus barrels designated for hunting.



I owned a G20 at one time so I was leaning towards the (little bit smaller) G29 for concealed carry and it will more than likely be my night stands gun too.

Any recommendations or thoughts ? Also need a holser, etc option.

As I type this I am carrying a G29.  I currently have it in this holster:

I also frequently carry it in a Crossbreed Supertuck.  The crossbreed is a great holster since it can switch hit between my G29 and G20.

Hard to go wrong with a G29 for CCW.

I should add that I am not certain the holster I bought on amazon is going to stand up long term.  I have had it a little over a week.  But it is comfy and cheap if you just need a short term solution.

Being that the G29 is smaller in size, mainly grip, do you feel it would be controllable with a 1200 fps 200 grain load ?

I find I can shoot the G29 about as well as any other 10mm.  In fact, the felt recoil seems a bit less in the G29 than in some of my full size steel guns.

Apparently there is a G29 and G29SF so a little more research will be required.

I have a 29SF. The grip is a little shorter, front to back. A Gen 4 comes with changeable back straps on the grip and a little different stippling. A Gen 4 with no back strap is the same size as the SF.

I carry a Gen4 G29. I frequently carry it with a 15 round mag with the X grip sleeve. I have and love my Milt Sparks Criterion holster.

I have the original G29..Pre-rail.  I also have large hands, so I find it quite comfortable, but I get than not everyone does.

I never had an issue with my old OD G30. But I have long fingers.
