The Flitecontrol #1 is ridiculous. It recoils very lightly and is coming out with great patterns. I like it, but the patterns are so tight that I sometimes load other stuff because I want a bit of spread. 3" 000 Federal 158000 is my favorite seconded by the Winchester 3" #1 Buck.

Both these guns are interesting IMO.  Capacity for the heavy-barreled Mossberg is greater than the Remmy.  Yet the Remmy handles 3" shells, opposed to the Mossberg's 2 3/4" fodder.  Price differential is negligible, I would love to see Ithaca do an approved shorty.  I do own, both full-size versions of these scatterguns.  I like the Mossy's safety location, since I'm a southpaw.

The Shockwave shoots 3" shells too and holds 5+1 of 2-3/4". I love mine. I just stipple the birds head today. Fun little "firearm".

How is the birds head vs. a pistol grip?  I heard the birds head can transfer more recoil and harder to grip and hold than a pistol grip

Right the opposite. The birds head allows your wrist to be in a more natural position, and doesn't give you the shock associated with the PG Mossys.

I stippled mine to add some extra grip.

If it makes a difference, you can use the Knoxx Breachers Grip III. It's a regular pistol grip style, but has the length to keep it at 26" overall. Which keeps it legal as a "firearm".

I've held a birds head but not shot one..they feel un-natural to me.

Interesting part is you can make a very compact shotty for cheap with a pg and a cheap ebay barrel.

I picked up a 18" bbl (minimum atf legal length) in ebay for my mossy 500 for $25...with the pg it measures 28" so both the overall length and barrel length are legal no matter what config I put it in.

Don't ever put a butt stock on those new mossy shockwaves or you'll have an sbs

To add to this wise warning...Don't replace the bird head with a pistol grip either, as the overall length has to remain above 26"

Right, cause then it's an aow, and requires a stamp

Fellas, read back up. I've already covered that. I said if you want a 90 degree pistol grip, use the Knoxx Breachers Grip III. It allows the overall length to stay above 26".

The Shockwave isn't an SBS because it isn't even a Shotgun. It's not an AOW, it's just a "Firearm".

I have a Mossberg 500 with the 18" barrel and pistol grip. The birds head really is less stressful on the wrist.

The Shockwave isn't an SBS (IN STOCK CONFIGURATION) because it isn't even a Shotgun. It's not an AOW, it's just a "Firearm".

BUT the shockwave IS an SBS IF you put a butt stock on it, because you have now converted it to a but stock with a non rifled barrel of less than 18" --and it would be an AOW with a standard PG as it puts its length under 26" -- that's all I was trying to say

an 18" barrel mossy with the PG is not NFA in either configuration with PG or butt stock

as far as ergonomics go--- I shoot my PG mossy at chest height--- the pistol grip is more ergonomic for me at that height than the Birds-head---If you shoot at hip height then the birds head would be better than the PG-- depends on how you shot and hold the gun and how long your arms are IMO

I am not saying no one else talked about this.  Just that on a thread about modifying a "firearm" it can't be said enough.  If I had time to put it on every post I would cause I don't want some poor guy spending 10 years in the big house cause he read one post here that said a PGO was cool and thought he would just switch his Shockwave to one.

Yeah, I'd hate to see someone get in trouble over it. It's 922R violation to put standard AK furniture on a MAK90 too. But some do it against the grain.

I'm going to add the Knoxx to my Shockwave and at some point I'm going to register it as an SBS and put a Benelli style stock on it.

I just purchased a Shockwave from PSA for $400. I was going to get the Remington, but, the price was too tempting to pass up. I added a sling, Mesa Tactical side saddle with top rail for a light and laser. I haven't shot it yet, but, disassembly was a son of a gun. I've owned and handled Ithaca model 37, Remington 870, and Benelli M1, M3, and M4 shotguns. This is my first Mossberg. I was not impressed. All of the other shotguns are fairly simple to disassemble. But, not the Mossberg. It took me an hour to get it disassembled for cleaning and to get it reassembled. The instruction manual sucked.

I should have gotten the Remington Tac 14. Remington 870 shotguns are a lot simpler and quicker to disassemble. You don't have to remove the trigger group to disassemble it like you do the Mossberg. And, you don't have as many loose parts laying around like you do with the Mossberg.

As for the grip, the bird's head grip style is a lot less jarring on your shooting hand as a pistol type grip is because the regular pistol grip imparts the full recoil of the shotgun directly into the web of your shooting hand. The Bird's head grip directs the recoil under the palm of your shooting hand. I would definitely not change out the grip for a pistol type grip unless you like having a sore hand every time you pull the trigger.

Has anyone added a AR tube and blade yet?

All this talk about mods to the Shockwave are just poking the bear so to speak. We have good thing going here I just do not understand why some feel they have to poke that bear?????
