Hey everyone!! First post, super new at actually posting anything. So sorry if this isn't the correct way. I have shot a Glock 20, that's about all of my 10mm experience. However I have plenty of ammo that I took as a payment. Looking to buy 10mm 1911, what's your guys opinions on who makes the best bang for your buck. Nothing over 1500. Thank you everyone for there time.

The best 1911 10mm under $1500. Well that Para might do the trick. The other thing would be an STI which would be out of your price range. I like the 6" barrel myself even though I own a 5" only. The added mass of the slide and velocity from the extra inch are nice for really playing with the cartridge's full potential. I'd try to find a fully ramped barrel.

At the upper end of your price range is a Dan Wesson Razorback 10mm. I have a Valor in .45, and I must say Dan Wesson makes a quality firearm at an excellent price.

A lot of guys on this forum seem to like Rock Island Armory's 10mm. It costs about the same as a Glock and comes with a fully supported chamber.

I have a Colt Delta Elite. I paid a little over $1,000.00. You will find that this gun has many fans, as it is the first 10mm 1911 to be manufactured. It does not have a fully supported chamber, which is of concern to some shooters. Mine is a great shooter and given the opportunity, I would buy another.

I think it depends on what you want it for.  If it's range gun, or a "BBQ" Gun, I'd go for something like the Dan Wesson.
If it's a "packing" gun - to go on your hip when hiking, getting banged up, scratched, and muddy, I'd go for the Rock Island.
I think the Delta Elite fits nicely between those two.
I have a Dan Wesson, and love it (I had to work through a few problems with it).  It's my do-everything gun.  Mine is like a Delta Elite: it has a non-ramped barrel.  I don't do the semi-nuclear Underwood loads in it, but I'm more than well equipped with either their "Delta Elite" load or some of the other good loads from Double Tap or Buffalo Bore.
But, since it's both valuable and has some sentimental value, I worry sometimes when I'm out in the sticks and bang it up.   I'll probably transition over to a RI (or maybe the new Witness P Match Pro?) eventually.
I've got a friend, a firearms instructor, who, when asked "what gun should I get?", always responds with: "What are you going to use it for?"  It's been a good guideline for me.

Thank you everyone for the responses, the RI is one I'm really considering just because of the cost. I then could the left over gun money for ammo and what not. 1911 is and will always be my first love.

If I was gonna spend $1500 ...

in a hurry - Rock and roll.

with some patience - Oh Danny Boy or STIx.

Colts are solid and Remington is in the game

Your budget got me through my first range trip (meaning I had change for ammo) with a NIB DW Silverback.  It is a blem model, but I was uncharacteristically ready to pounce when it was offered.  Demand is temporarily soft, so if your buying understand the merchants need to maintain a cash flow.

Rock Island is a good choice to start with.

I completely understand your $1500.00 limit and would ask you consider buying the 1911 whose features you like the most.  I bought my STI Perfect 10 used for $2,000.00 and my brand new Dan Wesson Bruin for $1799.00 (not a blemished model either). Build quality on both is excellent.

I've bought too many guns over the years I thought I wanted and then just lost interest in them because I found another whose features I liked better. Now I try to figure out exactly what i want and save my money to buy what I want the first time...or at least that's what I am trying to do.  :D

The Dan Wesson razorback is about Max budget but would be excellent. Many guys here like their kimbers a lot. The sti nitro looks promising.remingtons new long slide is the para longslide. Sig is making a brand new 1911 for about a thousand. The ria could be a great carry/get some wear gun for around 600.

Another vote for the RIA. I have a handful of 10mm's, 2 of them are 1911's. A DE and a RIA. They both shoot great, but I carry the RIA when I'm looking to carry a 1911. It is an accurate and dependable handgun and it wouldn't hurt my wallet as much to lose as the DE :)

To me it is hard to go wrong...  Just started shooting 10mm last year and after a Glock 40 everything else has been 1911...

First was a RIA Combat Commander size gun... Was a dealer sample for $525.00...shoots just as well as guns costing 3X as much...  Fulled supported bull barrel...  Only thing I don't care for is their ambi-safety but that can be easily replaced.

Next was a PARA USA Elite LS Hunter...great gun right out of the box.  Remington took over PARA and their rendition is a clone to the PARA...can be had for a grand.

Last but not close to the least is the just discontinued Kimber Stainless Target II. Can't say enough about this one..and if just one 10mm left it would be this one. Was able to pick up .40 S&W and .38 Super barrels and now with a .22 Conversion have a 4-caliber gun...  Can be found for $800-950.00 in excellent condition...

I have no experience with RIA, but I've heard good things... especially for the $$$. It's hard to argue with the price. The single stack STI Nitro 10 is a good one; they can still be found for about $1500 on GunJoker. STI makes a very good 1911.

The Sig TacOps 10mm is around $1k. I was very close to buying one before I found my STI.

Good hunting!

Well I put money down on a Sig Sauer tacops 10mm yesterday. Should be here 4-6 weeks. Total price is going to be around 1100. I hope she works just like any other Sigs I have. Thanks everyone for the advice.
