My G-21 conversion to 10mm......

A while back I was given a Storm Lake 10mm conversion barrel for my G-21. I picked up a couple of G-20 mags as well as a 20lb NDZ recoil spring. I also ordered 500 rounds of Sellier & Bellot 180 grain FMJ's.

I finally got out to the range today and it worked great! Out of 100 rounds I only had only one FTF (Happened in the first mag). At 25 yards from the bench I had everything staying withing the 8 ring with one flyer (probably me) in the 7 ring. The hits were a little high and to the right, but I think it will settle down after some more break-in.

I kept the factory G-21 extractor in the gun and it worked fine. I was able to recover all of my brass, but some of it got thrown pretty far (About 10-12 feet). I did have four cases get the mouth dented in pretty good, but all the rest of the brass came out looking fine.

All in all I am very happy with the barrel and I plan on taking this set up out with me on my next hog hunt in Texas.....

COngats.

FYI, case damage like that is a pretty classic sign of an extractor not doing it's job right.

Do you think a G-20 extractor would remedy this issue?

It might.

Were you shooting factory ammo or reloads and were they hot or regular power?

I was shooting factory Sellier & Bellot 180 grain FMJ's.

I think it would.  I have been wrong before.

If you don't reload and you didn't have malfunctions, who cares.  and it was only 4% of your brass.  I typically loose 10%, so again, not a big deal.

I point it out only as reference in case the issue does become bothersome.

True about 10%, I lose it from my Glocks, my Sigs, my RIA and my Delta Elite. There is nothing that you can do about it, other than using a brass catcher. The only one I don't lose them from is the GP 40. But I love shooting them all :)
