Witness Hunter 10: I went to the gun show and it followed me home

After attending several gun shows in the last six months or so, I always managed to leave empty handed or nearly so. I went to another show this past Saturday and had made the rounds once. I had seen one used Colt Delta with Millet sights and two 1911 style 10's that I couldn't even afford to pick up to look. One was $2400 and the other was $3k. As I started toward the exit I made one more random pass down a couple of aisles and there it was: Tanfoglio Witness Hunter in 10mm. I had seen pictures but it looked like it would be extremely muzzle heavy. When I picked it up I quickly found that this was not the case. I walked away twice. The third time it walked away with me.

You made a great choice!

You... increased your capacity, have something that really tames 10mm, ultra reliable, added oomph with the longer barrel, saved yourself big money and will love the simplicity of it!

Oh no. This sickness began a long time ago. I drove 75 miles to the first dealer that I could find that had a Delta Elite in stock when they were released. I also have owned  two other Deltas and a G20 since then. I currently have another Delta (two tone) and a Kimber Eclipse 10mm. There is no cure.

I shot it today with some anemic cast loads that I have had around for a while. Also shot some Federal factory loads that the seller included with the Witness. Semed about the same load as the cast stuff trhat i had. A little vertical stringing. I will have to get used to this type of trigger. Also have to find or load some real 10mm ammo.

Excellent, from what I understand the Witness can take hotter loads so you should be in for some fun working up a ladder and finding the right load for it. I am going to have to get one, one of these days. Right now I am busy wringing every bit of performance out of my Grand Power 40 (10mm).

Thanks. I am looking forward to it. The guy who sold me the Witness was telling me that the down side to the 10mm is the cost of the ammunition. I told him that I have three Dillon 550 presses and recently met a fellow 10mm shooter at my club who buys Georgia Arms 10mm ammo (loaded in Starline brass) and doesn't want the brass. I sure hope that arrangement holds up.

That is a nice deal. For your sake I hope it does stay that way :)

Great choice! I have 3 long slides and the witness hunter is my favorite. Easily the best shooter of the bunch. Enjoy.
