Purchased the 124gr bonded jhp +p+ from underwood received a 147gr variant. These differ slightly from the original that was posted some time ago. Seems powder and overall length has changed. I contacted Underwood ammo and did notify them these were not what I ordered. Received a call from Kevin personally and was told I would be given a new box. He did confirm it is not autocomp in these when I asked lol  ;D

Pctechdude, Good catch on that being the wrong bullets and seating depth being different too...
The 147 gr GD pull-down info which pretty much matches the powder charge exactly, could just be a different powder lot #.
Being the wrong bullet the C.A.O.L. may also be problematic as seated too deep.  The ballistic data on the box suggest that it is for the 124 grain bullet

Shadow thank you, Whats funny is according to their website, the 147 grain load was out of stock  :o The tips of the bullets are a little mashed down, so I'm not exactly sure. I did receive the 124's that I initially ordered so I will post those too.

Pctechdude, With those 147 grain  you might want to adjust the cartridge overall length to 1.1370" - 1.1400", it looks like you have the tools to do so.  That should help pressures stay where they should be.

I'll be looking for you post of the 124 grains to see what you find in those.  We may see the same or different, so my interest is peaked!
Thanks!

If the brass is like the 124gr +p+ and is holding 14.2 gr of h2o they may be seating deeper to get the same results? But I can definitely adjust these that's for sure lol!

Running it in quickload with the numbers just as a rough simulation and using the Alliant Herco profile which tracks almost identical to autocomp, 5.6gr, 14.2gr h2o and 1.116" C.O.A.L nets 43804k psi and 1146 fps.

Even utilizing 13.8gr which is an average of starline cases with 6.4gr herco profile, 124gr gold dot and the seating depth of 1.113" I get 1291 fps and 42682 psi. This calculation has been almost spot on for me and load development working with autocomp.

The new 124 grain seems to match up to the previous 124 grain pull down as well although they were Nosler Bullets.

That was my thought too. I'll get some chronograph data hopefully tomorrow when I'm at the range [emoji16]

Really disappointed in the results of both the loads. I fired 3 of each, 124gr +p+ and the 147gr +p+.

M&P 9mm FS 4.25" barrel.
124gr +p+
1223fps
1221fps
1222fps

The velocities were close but not close to advertised. Must be why I didn't see much case expansion.

The 147gr +p+ was just as bad, was able to record 2 shots, 3rd showed error. I reluctantly fired them as they were shipped. No adjusting of the overall length.
However the 3 test rounds I made to duplicate these were right in line with the factory stuff. So that is a positive in saying that it is autocomp.

147gr +p+
1099 fps
1106 fps
1102 avg

Intercooler tested the +P+ in various weights and even the one I sent him which was a 121 grain ZERO 0.356" bullet
His 1/2" longer barrel would not have made that much difference...  I have to wonder if these newer loads had standard primer and the older a magnum primer? ???

About a 65 FPS increase over the 4.75" Limited barrel. I guess if you have a 4.5" -4.75" barrel you are getting about all you can out of 9mm rounds.

Im Not sure, I know previously, I tested some 124's after speaking with you Shadow and formulating some idea's around overall length and 6.4gr of Autocomp, using the gold dot bullet. Those all chronographed out at 1300 ± a few fps. That was with a standard primer. Looking at the data from the previous 147gr +p+ those were with a brass colored primer. These were nickel plated primers in these cases.

Looks like I may have to test some of these theories, now to procure some small pistol magnums, or even try small rifle?

Hopefully I can get out Friday, got my order of the Speer 124gr bullets and some starline nickel plated brass today.

I loaded 18 rounds, 6.4gr Autocomp, C.O.A.L. 1.113" just like the Underwood ones. Only difference is I used a Winchester primer.

Once I test these, I'll post the results. Hopefully they fare better than the ones I bought.

So was able to get out and test some of the 124gr +p+ rounds yesterday. Unfortunately, my old chronograph stopped working and had to order a new one. Really liking the pro Chrono over my old shooting chrony.

124gr Speer gold dot
starline nickel plated brass
Winchester small pistol primer
6.4gr Autocomp
1.113" overall length

I did drop these on my uniflow powder dispenser and not electronic powder dispenser.
