BEEMER!

Yah, I looked at it.

That is a real Vice gun.  The slide has marks on it where it was held in a vice.

A real shop like APC could fix all of that damage and refinish it better than new.

BEEMER!

It is hard to see how far the marks are into the metal.  I called and talked to the sales rep and it is way more than "some wear to the finish on the slide" as their ad states.

That looks like a serious gouge right above the B in Bren on the slide.  This gun has been abused.

Perhaps this could be a shooter versus a collector if someone that kinda cash for a toy.

IC, I agree that most of this could be cleaned up.  In fact, a really good shop could probably fix the gouges.  I mean, look at a Nighthawk High Power.  The beavertail looks like it was forged, but was in fact welded on after the fact.

BEEMER!

I've been watching for a few years for a rough one to show up so I could chrome it up and make a Vice Gun out of it.

That one is just too far gone to plate.  Some of that will still stick out in chrome.  Blue or black you might get away with it.  Too much money in that one.

I kinda thought you guys might have these reactions. It looked pretty rough to me in person also. I had never seen one except in pictures.

I bet some sanding, a sandblast, a trip to the park tank and then some black cerakote and it would look pretty good.  But Beemer is spot on, chrome shows every flaw, and this gun will likely still have some.

Couldn't the gouge be welded up and then finished down?

gandog56

Maybe, but I am afraid the chrome would STILL show it. Dissimilar metals.
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?

Pardon my ignorance but what is a 'vice gun', is that referring to one like Sonny carried part of the time on Miami Vice?

Steve.........

The "VICE" referred to the slide being hard chromed for flash and show for the cameras, actually the 45 Bren Ten was used because of the larger bore and the fact that no 10mm blanks existed at the time....
The "10mm" I'm Packin', Has The Bullets Wackin', Smakin' & The Slide is Rackin' & Jackin'!

Almost bought it . . . almost and luckily enough I did not !

Untill today I passed on 15 Bren Ten !

The Bren Ten mentioned had way too much pitting on the slide . . . visible . . .

What on the inside of the slide ?

Refinishing . . . .  ?

Even Ford's couldn't tell what the end result would be . . . all depends on the deepest pitting . . .

And what's the value of a refinished gun for a collector ?

Anyway 3 weeks ago I found this one in immaculate condition
