I have a Glock 40, and a Remington R1 long slide hunter. I had no intention of getting another long slide, but while at the range last week with my R1 hunter I got the chance to shoot an EAA witness match 10mm, and I was impressed. So much so I ordered the EAA witness hunter yesterday. Should I have 3 long slides? It's hard too justify for sure. If it shoots as good as the match, well then I will have a new favorite! I should have it next week. Range report when I get a chance to get back to the range. Counting my EDC Glock 29 I have 4 10mm pistols now. Clearly I have issue's.

Your only issue is that you are not cognizant of the FACT that is short barrel 10mm is just a 40 S&W in effect  :P  :))

Congrats on the Witness Hunter! I have one on order, I should have it in 10 days or so!
We need to get together on grips, threaded barrels, etc  ;)  LMK if you have any leads, jbaker!
I will let you know for sure. I'm looking for grips now. You are going to love the Hunter. Of the three long slides I have it is my favorite. You have impeccable taste my friend.

20lb spring. You don't like the new Walnut grips? Is anyone selling theirs?

Thanks Intercooler, I just ordered the 20lb spring. I'm OK with the walnut grips, but if I find some grips I like better than the walnut I will certainly sell mine to you. I will keep you informed.

Man, you'll be happy with it. I had to do a little trigger work on mine (because I'm picky) but it is the slickest pistol I own now.
I haven't had too much issue with the 16lb spring with Sig performance ammo. The hefty slide definitely helps. I think I'm going to grab both an 18 as well as a 20 to tune in when I start reloading hotter stuff.
I like my guns the same way I like my music: METAL

I am very happy with it. The trigger on mine is fine for me. It's better than the Glock and about the same as the Remington hunter. I haven't shot it with the 20lb spring yet, but it did fine with the 14lb spring shooting S&B 180gr which are mild to medium loads.

I shot the witness hunter today. I really like this gun. It is well made, shoots great, and it looks great. I do have one question for you guys that have a witness. Should I use a heavier recoil spring.? I was thinking a 20lb wolff spring might be better for the underwood ammo I use to hunt with. I would appreciate any insight you guys might have on the subject.
JB

I have a Witness Match and a Hunter, both of them have heavier recoil springs.  I would suggest you buy the Wolf part number 13128 recoil spring calibration pack for your Hunter.  It also includes some heavier firing pin springs.  They need replaced too.

Thanks 338, if the 20lb spring doesn't work out I'll get the wolf calibration pack. I got a heavier hammer spring with the 20lb spring from Henning's, it came in the bag with the recoil spring.

Everyone has a way they approach setting one up. I have all the original springs in mine except recoil and it gets changed out. They have always functioned perfectly as-is without issue...

jbaker30

I agree mine functioned perfectly today at the range. Cycled everything I put through it from S&B 180 FMJ to the Underwood 200 gr FMJ. All with the 20lb recoil spring. I'm not going to change the hammer spring. It's perfect as is. Thanks for the advice intercooler.

When I went to get the 20lb spring they were back ordered so I bought a 18lb to use while I waited for the 20lb.   The 18 works so nice I havent tried the 20 LB yet... I guess I should to see if I can notice a difference.

Is the Wolff 49820 recoil spring the 20# spring the one that everyone is using in the 10mm Hunter? I looked on their website and it showed springs for the longslide Witness in 9 and 40 but not 10mm. I called and I was told they did not have a spring for the 10mm or 45 long slide.

I looked at the 13128 Recoil Calibration Pak but it had 12, 14, 16 and 18# springs. I already have light springs so I think if I wanted to try heavy springs I would be better off to order an 18 and a 20.

If 49820 is not correct for the 20# please advise what number I would need if anyone has that information. Thanks.

asilcot10 I got the same response from wolff so I got mine from the Henning group store. Go to Henninggroup.com under Tanfoglio scroll down to recoil springs and select the 20lb spring #W49820(same as the Wolff 49820), it's $2 more then getting it from Wolff. Hope that helps.
