I've never had to face off with a bear and sincerely hope to never have to.  However, I've met a couple of people that have in real life.  They both carried 44 mags and  both felt they would much rather have had a long gun instead, no equivocations.  It's not volume of fire, it's a few accurate shots with enough penetration when the bear is charging (think 12 gauge with slugs).   They run and climb so fast you're not likely to get many shots off regardless of magazine capacity.

This video kind of brings home the point https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9VQSZ4c20KE

I OPENED THE VIDEO, SAW HIM SITTING SPEAKING ABOUT BEAR FLESH SIMULATING TO US AS I SAW HIS SEMI AUTO AND HIS .44 MAGNUM BEAR KILLING REVOLVER WITH A 2 OR 2 1/2 INCH BARREL TURNED OFF THE VIDEO AS BS.
WE HEAR ALL KNOW A SHORT BARREL WILL NEVER GET THE JOB DONE INSTANT LOSS OF VELOCITY AND ENERGY.

In California, you can not have a gun on you when you hunt with a bow. Of course, you can have a person with you that isn't hunting and has a gun. Makes no sense: It's California.

And exactly how can  a game warden know the buddy with the gun is NOT hunting?
Some people think I'm paranoid because I have so many guns. With all my guns, what do I have to be paranoid about?
