Repeal the NFA

We the People wish to see the National Firearms Act of 1934 repealed in order to remove regulations on our 2nd amendment rights, increase national economic strength, and provide protection against threats to our national security.

I signed this petition, but, even if successful, it won't change much (except remove the registration and $200 fee) as far as title II firearms. Machinegun prices will still be astronomical because US manufacturers can't make any new ones for US consumption (outside military and Law Enforcement agencies) and it is illegal to import any for civilians. The FOPA machinegun ban of 1986 needs to be repealed as well as import restrictions which are not part of the NFA.

The FOPA amendment in 1986 restricted the issuance of new NFA tax stamps for title II firearms.  Since the NFA requires a tax fee via stamp, it de-facto took new guns out of the public forum.  Only exempt agencies could buy new machine guns since they didn't have to get a stamp.

If the NFA is repealed wholesale, then the requirement for a tax stamp would be gone.  And that would pull all the teeth of the FOPA amendment.  It would still exist and prevent the creation of new tax stamps, but stamps would no longer be required for NFA items, so who cares.

Prices for machine guns would drop like rocks.  And I would be adding giggle switches to a bunch of guns.

That said, this is never going to pass.  Way to many sheeple that buy into the hollywood vision of machine guns as horrible killing machines.  And while it is true that they can do terrible damage, for the most part they make fire less accurate.  The best role of a machine gun is defensive fire, not offensive fire except in suppression roles.
