10mm reloading dilemma

OK, I'll make this short.

I have 500 nickle once fired cases all ready to load.  so I pull out my handy dandy reloading books. My speer NO13, old as dirt, and my Lyman 49th, fairly new.

I have some 180 grain HAP bullets which are jacketed HP, so I look at speer for the 2 powders I have, Unique and Blue dot.

Speer says Blue Dot 10.0 to 11.0 and Unique 7.2 to 8.0

Lyman says Blue Dot 8.1 to 10.3 and Unique 5.8 to 6.7

this is a pretty significant difference. Advice please?

Also if it matters I will be shooting these out of a Glock model 40 exclusively.

And I will be measuring every single powder charge and an electronic scale.

Thank you.

Dangit, I meant to put this in the 10mm data reloading sub forum, moderator can you move this please?  Thank you.

I've loaded 180gr XTP's with up to 11gr Blue Dot with no issues.  it is a fun load to shoot, very accurate.  These were shot out of a Gen 2 Glock 20

Blue Dot will work well up to 11.0 grains...

Thanks guys.  Going to reload 500 rounds, 125 each at 10.4, 10.6, 10.8 and 11.0 and see what nets me the best accuracy and gives me a chance to look for over pressure signs as I go.

If you want a very accurate load and not the highest velocity, 10.4 grains is like a sweet spot for me!

My sweet spot with 180's and Bluedot has been 10.0 grains from both my G20&29 both.

Agree with others. Also will add latest Lyman data is known to be light.

I know this is an older post, but here goes anyway... Any chance you can share your results, realsmswalker?  Very interested to see them, thanks.

I wouldn't hold your breath.  Be great to hear the results, but this user's only activity was on the day he signed up 11 months ago.

Ive been fishing around for a suitable load for MDs KE rquirement for deer and have tried most of the published data from manufacturerers to people on this site. I have finally settled on a load of 11.4 gr of Bluedot and 180gr bullets. I have no pressure data but cases don seem to suffer and accuracy is astonishing with some bullets. Astonishing because I didnt think I could shoot that well. This is well over the published data in most sources but has not shown any adverse signs or expansion. My cases mike well under those figures in the threads here.

Well that is  the same load I use when shooting Blue Dot 10.4 grains :) and I use both 180 gr cast or fmj with no issues in my Colt Delta and my Kimber. it's a fun load to shoot and hits my steel targets dam hard and up there in fps.
