The Sig 227 could be done in 10mm. The 226 doesn't have the mag capacity. ( big enough for OAL )

Gotcha.  but the 227 says 10 round capacity in 45.  What would that mean in terms of a 10mm?  2 more rounds?

Last update - I misrepresented what the problem with the P40 was - sorry about that.  It went into battery but didn't reset the hammer.  It seems that the spring is so heavy in the P40 10mm that the slide doesn't slide far enough back to reset the hammer to single action.  I cleaned it up and reoiled it but that grey spring I think is too heavy therefor the slide doesn't come far enough back.  I also had a few cases that locked up inside of the ejection port.  I've read some swapped out their spring.  Also I could only get about 8 rounds in the magazine as the spring is too heavy.  Again I have read that some people have cut down their springs.  To me this is a show stopper.  The last thing I want to do is have to customize my gun to make it just work.  I've decided that with my 1895 SBL as my main defense in bear country an 8+1 is enough ammo by the time I have to actually pull it out to use it.  I am going to give Grey Guns a call today and see if they can lighten up the P220 a little.  40 ounces is a bit heavy so hopefully they can work their magic on it.  It would be nice to take off a few ounces.  The other gun I thought about was the S&W 1076 but at 40 ounces and double the price of a P220 match elite I can't justify 1 more round.  Now if it had 14-17 rounds I would probably take the leap.  I sent an email to Sig about a double stack option and the reply I received was...

"Double stack 10mm –  I can say  we understand the need for one.   "

Maybe we will see a 226 in 10mm??

My P40 was sent in for warranty work. The pistol Smith cut the mag springs down. Did some work on the catch Windows to better engage the mags. It still fails to reset now and then. And with full house loads drops the mag on occasion. I will be selling her for a XD in 10mm.

I don't blame you.  I am going to take it down to the gun shop today to try to sell it along with my XDs and AKs and a bunch of mags.

Also I'm ordering the new Flint river armory 10mm carbine..Its kind of pricey. The P40 sale will cover about half the cost.

A Glock 29 & Glock 30 are identical with flush fit mags. The G30 is a .45 and holds 9 and the 29 is a 10mm and holds 10.

Not identical, 30 is single stack 45; 29 is double stack 10mm
Approx the same size I think

@bowwpay

Do yourself a favor... Don't worry about it an get yes elf a Glock 20 for your bear  issue..they are cheap but always work, with the 15 round cap you need worry a bit about missing one or twice...you won't remember anything when a bear charges at you except maybe cleaning yr pants

You are thinking about the 36 which is a single stack not the 30. The 30 is pretty much the same pistol as the 29 except the caliber and slight changes to the ejection port. I owned a 29 for a while and wish i would have bought a 30 instead because a 30/21 will run the 10mm, 40, and .357 sig with a mag and a barrel change as well as the .45. The 29/20 will run them all with just a simple barrel recoil spring change but will not run the .45 ACP with a mag and barrel  due to the smaller ejection port .

Thanks for the info

With the release of the 220 Legion yesterday I spoke to the same rep and he says that we should see the 220 Legion 10mm in late July early August.  Now I am shooting (not literally lol) now that I placed the P220 Lipseys version on layaway!  The Grey guns trigger kit is around $350! ouch!

I hope they keep the alloy frame and under 30 oz weight on the 10mm version.  That would be a great option for carry.

Although, strictly speaking it is not a double stack.  Still, 10+1 of 10mm is nothing to sneeze at.

Nope I asked the same question.  He said it will be Stainless steel.  I think it's going to be identical to the Lipseys version but Legion.  I think the only real upgrade is the Gray guns trigger kit.

Dang.  The only thing keeping me from buying one is the weight for a single stack gun  ???.  I already have several 10's to heavy for EDC.

tommac919

I tried to carry the Sig 220-10mm ( instead of the g20 )

Two things...the extra 10 oz DOES make a difference, and the g20 is not such a pretty gun so it doesn't matter if I bang it up
