I picked up a new to me G21 last night. All SN match on slide, frame and barrel.

As you can see it has a picitini style rail under the barrel.

It also has a ambi mag release. But has small button holes.

It also only uses the funky center catch on the mags.. so the MANY mags I have dont work. GRR (Can I swap to a regular release?)

Small main spring hole and you cannot change grip/back strap.

Has the raised extractor.

Any idea what Generation I have here?

Those lines on the backstrap indicate it came from the factory with interchangeable backstrap panels.  The grip remodeling has destroyed that ability, but I think it originally was there.  That would mean Gen 4.

That said, this gun is pretty modified.

I bet those mag release button holes were filled for the small button.  You may be able to punch them back out.  If so, a factory release should drop back in.

Take all I say with a grain of salt, cause I am not good with the Glock Generations. :-\

Looks like a gen 3 befor the SF models possibly...Not seeing the Guide rod purchase id it is small would be 3rd gen where the gen 4 would be larger diameter.

One thing that throws me off here is the rail section as most do not have that many slots cut in.

Is that a grip tape application?  Looks like the finger nubs have been cut down some too.

Contact Glock and send it to them for replacement.  The ambi release is supposed to be harder to operate and does need the special mags.  The replacement will cost nothing, other than shipping, but will not have the picatinny rail.

Looks like one of their short run Gen 3 specials with the picatinny rail. It is worth money. Sell it and buy 2 Gen 4 guns.

Haha,
Well I'll leave it as stock as it is.. I know its got a SS guide rod and a after market take down bar. (I put them in) Like my G29 this one was a bugger to get the slide off. This easy add-on has a angles grip edge but is no longer then stock. Works nice for better grip and easier take down. Esp for arthritic hands.

I also bought a factroy new mag release bar and installed it. (PIA!) but it works better and dont look hacked like it did.  :o

I did not have allot of time, but ran two mags thru the gun. (Probably wont be a carry gun as I own 10MM's.  ;D ;D) But she shot very well! There is a 10" gong hanging @ 55 yards, I hit it ten for ten first time shooting the gun.

Jury still out on grip tape, but it aint aweful.
