Some older vintage 10mm Ammo. Shoot or Save?

A buddy of mine was a writer for gun rags back in the day and ever once in a while he brings me some gems.

So .  . . shoot in my new Grand Power or save for future generations?


Some of the Hornady's have XTP stickers on them, some don't. But all have the same part number, sticker or not.



Pretty sure I'm shooting the PMC's




950FPS for the 10mm and the .40Short & Weak 180's. That is about all I need to know about the "Law Enforcement" loads.


Are these the original loads everyone talks about?

Very nice collection of older 10mm ammo...Since then many of those powders have been re formulated and even discontinued.
On another note new powders can exceed the velocities safely.   I was looking over your stash to see if you happen to have any NORMA 165 grain, we had been looking for some to document them to preserve their history!

Back in the day (early 1990) I loaded many of the Hornady 170 grain back then the nose profile of the XTP was a TC's and the 200 grain, great bullets.   Newer XTP's have a rounded nose shape adding more forward weight and thicker walls of the HP.

Many will pay a nice amount for the original NORMA for its historic and iconic prestige...
The other ammo is probably just good stuff from back in the day, it appears to be holding up well preserved too!

Shooting it would be up to you.  BTW the Federal Jacketed Hydro-Shok are interesting and I don't think I have had the chance to document them in a pull-down but they may be the same as the (10C).

I'll chronograph all of them in my Grand Power 4.25" when the snow stops for a while, and I get around to it. 
Don't mind pulling one or two apart to see what is in them.

Since you have a good amount, shoot some for the experience of the vintage ammo.

Likely what I will do. Shot a bit yesterday. The Grand Power really tames those old Silvertips down to 9mm+p levels.

if you are having financial difficulties, sell it. If youre arent, rapid fire it througha crono, after shooting some weak ammo, to show a difference.  i understand holding onto hot ammo, but then again i dont. you can always make some.
please sont take this as criticism.  have fun either way.

I would archive 2-3 boxes of each, as well as all the Norma.  The rest I would shoot.
