Thanks for posting that video. I been saying that all along the Colt Delta Elite,it is one hell of a pistol !! And it can run the hot stuff just like I said mine can do !! That fully ramp barrel is highly over rated as I run the same hot stuff through my Kimber as well as my Colt, and you know what, the brass all looks the same no matter which gun it was shot through and I am running 180gr XTPs @ over 1350 fps just like Jeff was. I know if my Kimber would have came back from the factory with the issues that I had sent it in for and they didn't fix them I would have traded that Kimber on a New Delta Elite, but my Kimber runs like a house on fire now!!

Thanks for the video post Intercooler.  I did not know that this variant was available..

I picked up one of the first Deltas when offered (blue) in the 80's. I got rid of it as soon as heard of the frame cracks seen in the frame.  I remember that the gun itself was disappointing. It just didn't hold a candle to my Bren 10. But then I was not a 1911 guy yet either. I didn't think that any 1911 could be better than a Gold Cup. That mindset was completely changed after shooting a Wilson Combat 1911. THAT's when I became a 1911 guy!  ;D

After Colt fixed the frame problem I picked up a Stainless Delta when available. I am very pleased with it since I am now a 1911 guy. Especially since my Brens are all retired.

It seems Jeff laid it out pretty good here in this video. He knows about the ramped barrel and from everything he said this new version has all the support to shoot the good stuff without a ramp. Go for it if you like Colt and 1911's!

Yeah. Myself and a friend both bought one of the first Delta Elites when they first were released. We took them over to his house to clean and then to go to the shooting range. Both of our pistols had the thumb safety stuck. I put so much pressure on mine to make it move that the plunger tube broke off the side of the frame. We never shot those guns. Took them back to the dealer for refunds. The frame cracking issue arose a little while after we bought our pistols, so we were glad to have taken them back to the dealer.

I bought a more recent stainless Delta Elite about 5 years ago and I noticed that Underwood Ammo (all of my carry rounds are Underwood Ammo) advised against using their ammo in guns with unramped barrels. I got rid of the Delta Elite. Since then they have lowered the pressure and now indicate their ammo is safe to use in unramped barrel pistols. I am a lot happier with my two Dan Wesson 10mm 1911 pistols (with ramped barrels) than I was with either Colt. DW just makes a better 1911 than Colt anyway.
