My part broken seems to always be the sites! I think I have had at least three different sets go on pistols but this one was actually a save! It saved me from a piece of brass on the second box of PBR Ammo. At least that is what I think because it hit me in the face lightly. Pictures soon to follow! :o

Something told me take the 1006 too just in case and so I did. Enabled me to finish up the testing!

Do the sights actually break, or is it simply that they come out of where they're supposed to fit into?
Gun Control?  Oh yes, the theory that becoming a victim is somehow morally superior to defending yourself & your family.  Makes perfect sense.

You guys will like this one. Hopefully we can figure out what happened! At this point I'm thinking about doing a Dawson setup or possibly trying the Henning fixed rear sight. I need Titanium sights for my pistols it seems  :o

That Match has seen alot of blasting. Not only blasting, but 10mm blasting. ;D

Could a piece of brass come back at just the right angle to knock it off? Since I removed the firing pin block are their any opening pressure could have knocked it off?

Im looking at my sights on the Match. They appear to be not the greatest in terms strenght.I miss the old school 3 dot iron sights the Witness came with like on my compact and .45 from 90's.You been firing rockets out of that gun for sometime, stress fracture,i would not be surprised.Plus the back end of rear sight flexs, not sturdy.

Intercooler

I have never had the base off. Nothing where pressure could come through under there though right? It is kind of flimsy and wobbles if you move it. Maybe it didn't get hit by brass... what's the chances a piece could come back low enough to hit it?

Intercooler

How did you like that Dawson front? I really hate a fixed rear sight but Henning's new piece looks nice. I was really impressed with the Dawson rear I put on the XD a couple of weeks ago. If I knew they could make one up for it I would send the slide in.

pacapcop

Dawson front not for me.Went back to orig sight, put a little nail polish on front,it works for me..Back to the rear sight,my guess and it's a guess,is that rear sight had enough. Not a big deal, again you put some heat into that pistol testing various loads.

Intercooler

Upon further inspection the rear part of the sight is split. Somehow it mushroomed from movement and come off finally after it split. It's basically a press-fit piece.

Guess I will contact EAA and ask. I would still rather go with a more robust piece like the Hunter has on it.

I would go with a fixed rear sight if it were me.  My Match rear sight has not had issues yet though, through about 2500-3000 rounds.  I have the same sight you show in your pictures.

But, on all my builds I put on a sight similar to the 10-8 performance sights.  Fixed, solid steel, enough of a hook on the front that I can rack the slide one handed.  These take a standard Novak cut, so you would have to have your slide machined, but it shouldn't cost that much.

Intercooler

I contacted EAA and they wanted the entire gun. Then I swayed them that sending the slide should be all that's needed. I'm going to see what that warranty is like and also request them add the front fiber sight while there. See how it goes.

I don't no,id send the gun in for sight work. That's just me.
