Upgrading guide Rod and spring

Sorry if this in the wrong section but here goes.
I've got a Glock G20SF in Maryland's jail system, parole date is 29 October, I've been contemplating upgrading the guide Rod and spring to something a little stouter than the stock 17 pound spring. This handgun will probably never see any factory loads so I've been looking at a stainless guide Rod and either a 20 or 22 pound spring, I'm sure that it will go bang with the stock setup, I'd just rather go ahead and order new stuff and have it here if I'm not happy with the way the stock stuff works instead of waiting another week for parts to arrive. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Well I run the Wolff non captured recoil rod and 22lbs spring in my G-20SF.

This is the results from measurements taken;
Glock 20Sf Factory spring test
It takes 5lb 3oz to start the slide to move from the locked position
Full retraction at 18lb 0oz at lock open

Glock 20SF spring test Wolff Gun Springs 22lb RSA installed
It takes 6lb 4oz to start the slide to move from the locked position
Full retraction at 22lb 9oz at lock open

22-Slightly over a pound difference 1lb 1oz to start the slide to move from the locked position
24-Slightly over a two pound difference 2lb 3oz to start the slide to move from the locked position
22-Slightly over a 2 pound difference 2lb 9oz at lock open
24-Slightly over a 6 pound difference 6lb 1oz at lock open

The "10mm" I'm Packin', Has The Bullets Wackin', Smakin' & The Slide is Rackin' & Jackin'!

So do you think I should go 22 instead of 20? I might just get a pack that way I can experiment. Thanks.

I bought the 24 lb springs but rarely use them, but they did work, but the 22lb has been great for mine even with the UW and DT and my matching loads...

thanks, I've got some more cyphering to do I guess. Might need to shoot it a few times to see how it acts first.

Moved from the stock spring, picked up a 20 and 22 lb spring...actually like the way the 20lb spring worked on my G20 G3 better overall. Run usu warm to hot loads

Just for more head thought

Good deal, mine is a Gen 3 also, so I'll probably go with the 20 lb spring and see what it's like.

I run a captured 22# spring on a SS guide rod from the GlockStore in my G20SF.   Works great for light-->heavy loads.

Never had any hangups.

I went with a captured 20 pound, seems to work with both loads I've tried so I'm good with it for now.

I use a Wolff s/s rod and a 20 lb spring in my gen. 3  G-20. Seems to do well with med to hot loads.

I have a 1911 10mm and just ordered springs from them,  they're cheap enough to mess around with,  plus, if your gonna change to a different barrel,  like 40 S&W, you might want to buy more than one spring to play with.  They also come wroth an upgraded hammer spring for free-don't know if that apply to glocks.

Overall, I'd buy a few, for different setups, etc.  Worth the extra 15 bucks to not get frustrated at the range/bench
