One more mass Chrony test and then rebuild time!

Doing PBR's full 10mm line with some of their .44 this week plus Federal's .44 lineup between this week and next week. I placed an order today with Chrony for some new parts and they should be here next week. My Chrony will be serviced then with another metal plate in front of the second sky screen to match the first one and some new sensor housings installed. Plus I ordered another sticky for the display screen to pretty it up. Better than new and tougher than a speeding 10mm bullet after this overhaul!

Last time I shot over mine I forgot to place the steel plate on it, nothing happened so I was lucky! Blasted away with the S&W mod. 10 38spl 2" with Speer cast Sil. 180 grain with Gas Checks over 8 grains of Blue Dot (aprox. 25 years old) these were an impresive 950fps, I believe these to be still under the plus P spec of 20,000cup but very close to 18,300 - 18,500cup.

These are long bullets with wide band ahead of the cannelure, what is in the casing equals the 160 grain bullets I also cast. I also load them for the 357Mag which the fit the chamber of the model 19 but are too long for other revolvers with short chambers, they are also too long for my Marlin as crimped in the normal cannelure to cycle thru the action, I need to chrono the 357 loads to see how they fair.

These have me pretty excited to do. All the different 10's plus some of the hard to get Federal .44's... 300gr Castcore, 280gr Swift A-Frame and the Federal 125gr JHP plus the 180gr Swift A-Frame. I wanted the .357 180gr Castcore but it didn't come in :'(

Those are some heavy hitters, I just tested some of my Lyman 260 grain cast Devastators HP gas checked which run adv of 1370 fps from my 8 3/8" S&W. Here lately I have been working with more and more cast bullets in case there are shortages due to the higher demands since this election.

That's pretty stout!

Littlestone has a pretty good lineup but a little pricey. I would like to try a couple of Garrett Hammerheads but they are real expensive. No data on either maker!

I hear you about the expensive part...I suspect prices will also rise given the gun grabbers are trying to work their magic!
Which reminds me I need to re assess my powder and primer situations...I should be good to go...but this could be a long drawn out 4 years plus! No telling how much damage the currrent powers will do. ${$default_shocked_smiley}$ ${$default_smiley_smiley}$

You hit the nail on the head. Good ol' speculation. Plan for the worst, hope for the best. I think a there aren't a whole lot of handloaders that aren't assessing right now. Me too, and I've only just got started. It'ld be a shame to come to a halt so soon just because I couldn't get my hands on necessary components. There are bulk orders I'm looking into, not that bulk to me is what it is to some others, financial limitations being what they are. All in all though I will be doing what I can toward hedging against a pretty good possibility of who knows what. $:-\$

Intercooler - as to 44 Magnum loads to test...all the ones you've already tested and have mentioned otherwise would pretty much round out my list. At some point I think I'll have to have a 44 Mag revolver again. Sadly it won't be in the near future though. I'm not really into hardcast, though no question they have their place. My favorite load was always Speer's own 270gr Gold Dot load. I did always wish there was some more steam behind it though. The most stout load I ever launched were Corbon's 305gr Penetrators. Secondly one of Buffalo Bore's loads, but I can't recall the specific load.

Results for the Federal stuff out of Ruger GP100 4" barrel:

Federal 125gr SJSP 1488, 1477, 1415, 1413, 1441. Average = 1446.8 FPS/ 580.87 LBS. This I do believe is the strongest big maker 125 to date. Kevin's 125 and DoubleTap beat it but big maker this is the strongest!
Federal 180gr Swift A-Frame 1197, 1165, 1159, 1160, 1180. Average = 1172.1 FPS/ 548.97 LBS. Pretty good I think.

Results for the Federal .44 Magnums Ruger Redhawk 7.5" barrel:

Federal 280gr Swift A-Frame 1227, 1213, 1168, 1196, 1209. Average = 1202.6 FPS/ 898.98 LBS. Guess they slow it down a bit for the bullet design.
Federal 300gr Castcore 1282, 1295, 1295, 1307, 1288. Average = 1293.4 FPS/ 1114.14 LBS Didn't feel that bad but numbers say it is strong!

And now the concussion PBR Ammo .44's. These numbers should top the list out of Ruger Redhawk 7.5" barrel:

PBR Ammo 180gr V-Supreme JHP 1736, 1756, 1822, 1809, 1760. Average = 1776.6 FPS/ 1261.26 LBS. I wish I had taken a video or someone snapped a picture. Muzzle blast and fire-ball like no other!
PBR Ammo 200gr V-Supreme JHP 1686, 1662, 1713. Average = 1687 FPS/ 1263.61 LBS. Big blast and flash!
PBR Ammo 240gr V-Supreme JHP 1531, 1535, 1505, 1516. Average = 1521.75 FPS/ 1233.81 LBS.
PBR Ammo 300gr V-Supreme JHP 1303, 1320, 1315, 1301, 1283, 1314. Average = 1306 FPS/ 1135.95 LBS

I do believe these are closest to the stongest I have shot so far including Buffalo Bore.

Guess you have to hit kind of deep down to tear up the sensor. Anyone know how to take apart the black sensor box?

Yep. Drive a .45ACP (G36) right down main street. They come apart, easy enough.

Seriously, once the screws are removed, the halves should separate. They are only align-pinned together.

Well I finished it up today so I can bang out these new DoubleTap rounds. My Hillbilly Engineering I used wood for the upright holders and they could have been 1" wider each side to space things out even more. Two sets of the plastic to make up the upper hoop and a new rear sensor box (black part) plus I glued a little bubble level inside to level it up. I still need to get another piece of metal to place before the rear sensor to match the front (we will see!). Hopefully if I get crazy enough right or left it will just send the metal rods flying or maybe bust the wood up. My issue has always been going a little too low smacking stuff. The ProChrono has a wider set of uprights than the F1 but I think this is even better! This is how they should have made the setup IMO.
