Hi guys, new to this site and the 10mm and just wanted to share some thoughts. I bought a Ultra FS and so far im very happy with it, fit and finish is very good and she shoots pretty good also. Only have about 275rds through it and i have had 2 FTF but i chalk that up to either its break in period or the whimpy 180gr american eagle stuff. Full power underwood has cycled like a champ and its FTF has been light jams on the ramp, pull the slide back a little and release and she's good to go. I paid 620 dollars for it and had to special order at my local dealer, i know some guys are picking up used Glocks in 10mm for around 400 bucks but that aint happening in northern NJ. I wanted a 1911 with 5" barrel for its fairly compact size, weight doesnt bother me, and i want to shoot a deer or two with it, but also be able to carry like a normal 1911. The only thing i dont like about it is it only came with one magazine but i will pick up 2, 9 round wilson mags soon. With that said i really like the Dan Wesson Bruin, as a dedicated hunting 10, its sure is pretty but i really cant afford the 2 grand right now, good shooting to y'all and God Bless....

I have a slightly different version of the Rock, runs great and is fun to shoot.

Congratulations!

I looked in to a RIA 10mm but had to go with some thing (After way over over over researching) to full fill several roles and went with a glock 40. Got a wolf barrel for it when I get underwood and such ammo.

I been wanting to get in to the 10mm for a long time. Funny things I did get in to another descendant of its parent case, in to the 6.8 SPC.

Congrats on the Rock.  Regarding this issue:

My personal experience is my 1911 is finicky about COAL and about magazine spring strength. On cartridges over 1.250" I have to have a very stiff mag spring or get three point jams like you describe.  The stiffer mag spring ensures the cartridge below "bumps" the base of the round being fed up into place on the bolt face.

Check your American Eagle ammo and I bet you find a stronger shoulder profile or longer COAL in that ammo.

sqlbullet, yeah i have another 1911 in 45acp but its not really finicky at all, im betting the wilson mags will give better performance plus i think your right about COAL unfortunately no one carries Remington 10mm ammo which i hear good things about. i reload for rifle and just may have to get some 10mm auto dies.    Roguer, i plan on useing the rock ultra in multiple rolls but primarily to shoot some deer, and 10rds of full power 10mil would be an awesome defensive platform, i like Glocks, they're built to run, personnally i dont think one can go wrong in most any platform that is shooting the 10,  ;D

Rem 180s FMJ is a mid range load :( I would try and get S&B its half the price and about the same Vel.

Nice choice, mine has adjustable sights. As mentioned above, sellier&bellot 10mm is much cheaper for break in. Trying to okay it with the wife to finish mine :p
