S&W 1006, will not see another like this one!

Here is my S&W 1006 that I received virtually brand new several years back.  Has about 300 rounds through it, give or take a few.  Was really into the gun after I purchased it, researched everything I could on it.  Eventually, I added a set of Hogue rubber grips and added 22# wolf recoil spring on the gun.  Was sending a Glock in to Robar to be NP3ed and they were running a special, buy 1 treatment and get the other 1/2 off.  FIgured my 1006 was a perfect candidate and that the NP3 would look awesome on the 1006.  So off to RObar the Glock and 1006 went.  Also had both mags NP3ed for the 1006 as well.  This one came back better than I had imagined, and it probably one of the nicest 1006 10mm's anywhere.  Haven't fired the gun since the treatment was applied.  This is one bad ass mofo!

Contact me via PM or email (sick6gn@hotmail.com) with any questions concerning my 1006.  Thinking of ordering a custom 1911 but in the air still  ;D

Man....Home improvements that suck you dry on toy funds suck.  I guess I get to keep dreaming for now.

Very nice looking coating there! My only complaint of the 1006 is they are kind of ugly. I'm waiting on my sights for mine and will post pictures when it's done.

While the gun looks nice with the finish on it...I would not have coated the stainless steel gun to start with.  I just read where a fellow on S&W Forum had removed a ceracoat job as it caused issues and was pealing too.

I don't find the S&W10xx series guns ugly at all but they surely could have been rounded and dehorned in many areas to improve feel, carry and looks too.

Be sure to get that S&W out there and test the function as it relates to the coating.

I think when mine gets to that point I may just give it a polish job.

Nor do I.....and easy to refinish with light bead or soda blasting.

I meant sitting next to a Match or Razorback. I think it's the dullness!

A buffing wheel and some stainless polishing media can take care of that if it's a problem. Beauty is in the eye...etc.  ;D

NP3 is very different than your average cerakote or duracoat.  Please go check out Robar's site and read up on the NP3.  When considering protection, durability, and built in lubrication, NP3 is probably one of, if not the best treatment you can add to a steel gun.  It will not affect the gun's cycling or performance at all.  The process in which NP3 is applied is on a microscopic level, hence no need to worry about it affecting the action of the handgun.  Anyone who has an NP3'ed gun or has had one knows exactly what I am talking about.   ;D

NP3 is good stuff.  I Cerakoted my stainless slide on my P16 about 5 months ago.  It is holding up very well.  And the added lubricity means I barely lube the gun at all anymore.  Used to gall just a little if I didn't keep it well lubed.  NP3 if cerakote X10.  Oh...And the quality of the cerakote if all about surface prep and proper spray pattern.  If it isn't right, it is a mess.  And the mess is even worse on a non-porous metal like stainless.

And, I gotta agree with Intercooler.  I just don't find the lines of the 10XX as appealing as a 1911 or CZ clone.  Don't get me wrong...I still really want one.  But it just doesn't have the same appeal to me.  Completely personal opinion.

I agree with Shadow, the S&W ten's look great as they are. I have sent a couple of them back to the factory for bead blasting to restore the original finish.  The NP3 looks great though.
