For the first couple of mags I had problems with the mag releasing until I changed my grip slightly. No problems since.

Not since I started being a little more forceful on my mag changes. I started making sure I gave them a good, solid slam home and I haven't had a mag drop since. Are you starting to have issues with your 9mm?

I would like to see a video of the "slop". I imagine that might be an okay thing when filled with 230gr Hardcast.

Centerfireguns has the GP 10mm for $642 and free shipping. That was good enough for me so I went ahead and ordered one.

That's certainly a better price than they have been on GunBroker lately. Hope you enjoy your new 10MM pistol.

Still showing "in stock" for me. Are you looking at the right one? They have a listing for the older version that is out of stock. The link above goes to the new version with the decocker. If you go to their website and search for "P40" it brings up both and some other stuff. There is no picture for the new version.

Great price and free shipping, can't beat it. Get your spare mags from Eagle Imports for $32.00 each. Much cheaper than the GB sellers I've seen.

That was fast! I just ordered the P40 yesterday at about 11:00am eastern. It was delivered to my dealer today at 11:45 am, just over 24 hours! My dealer was nice enough to let me come by tonight to pick it up.
It was shipped "2nd Day Air" UPS but for some reason it was delivered overnight. BTW, Centerfire guns is in Colorado but the gun was shipped from a distributor in Louisiana. That seems to be the norm anymore.
Going to the range tomorrow! BTW, Centerfire still shows them in stock.

So what's the verdict on these? Better than a standard Witness? I'm skeptical of new guns. I want to see thousands of rounds through one with no problems. For the price these are going I could almost buy 2 witnesses.

I truthfully have had not a single malfunction since I purchased it a couple months ago. I have about 2K through it so far. It is a very unique action and it certainly reduces recoil more than my Glocks or 1911's or even my Sig.

OK, the first range trip wasn't so great. Due to limited time and having a couple of other guns I wanted to shoot, I only put 50 rounds through the P40. I had 4 mags (I had bought 2 a few months ago in anticipation of buying the gun) and with every mag it failed to fully chamber the last round in the mag. It only took a light tap on the back of the slide to chamber the round. Other than that I liked it. The trigger is OK but nothing great. The rotating barrel does seem to help mitigate the recoil. It seems to remove the sharpness, leaving just a good healthy push. Accuracy was fine. The fired brass looked good. I was shooting a handload of 8.7 gr. of Longshot with a 180 gr. FMJ bullet. Next time I will try a hotter load with 9.3 gr. of Longshot.

COAL or mag springs need replaced.  Yeah, I know they are new mags.

PCFlorida

I concur and I'm likely leaning to COAL. I have had great success with 1.250, what is yours?

1.260 runs in the glocks and witnesses just fine.  But only certain bullet shapes in the 1911.  It needs them 1.250 for reliability.
