hello all,

new member here and proud to be a part of this very informative site.

I bought a D/W razorback and am still in the breaking in phase (250 rnds. so far, no malfs).

this is the fourth time I've taken it down for a detailed cleaning and noticed something amiss.

the recoil spring has a distinct kink about an inch and a half past the end of the end of the recoil guide rod.

I've been very careful about reassembly and use a J.B. JOHNS 1911 bushing tool due to very stout recoil spring and tight bushing.

has anyone here run across this, should I contact D/W customer service?

thanks for any advice.

Welcome aboard!

I don't have a DW but others do and will be along soon to help you.

Do you have any pictures? I do recall mine having a weird look to the spring after some use. If I would have kept it longer the plan was to put a full length guide rod in.

chaindrive

no, sorry i'm not set up for posting pictures.

the best way I can describe it is a 1 inch section that kind of jinks off to the side a little bit and then the spring returns to normal orientation.

it is a stock spring and as mentioned, very stout.

i'm at a loss to see how it could deform at such a low round count.

it didn't seem to affect the performance of the pistol. however I wonder if I should replace it before the next outing.

Like you said it didn't seem to hurt function. How do you feel about full length guide rods?

chaindrive

never had any experience with them.

I also have a ruger SR1911 (sadly neglected now, 10mm rules!) and this has never happened with it.

come to think of it, I did have a failure to go into battery. I dropped the mag and racked the slide to clear the chamber and continued to shoot.

could this have somehow kinked the spring?

I really like the razorback and plan to keep it stock. great shooting pistol.

oh yeah, also have a glock20 gen4. it languishes in the safe too...

If it ain't broke (doesn't run right), don't fix it.
