Well I was finally able to pick up my new Dan Wesson Silverback blem.  It is a sweetheart.  The blem is pitting on the frame.  You actually have to use magnified glasses to see the pits.  Every other manufacture would of sent this gun out and to be honest nobody buying it would probably of ever known.  I think this says something about QC at CZ/Dan Wesson.  I was looking to purchase this gun from LGS for 2150.00 out the door.  I ended up getting this one for under 1600.00 total.  I took it out for a quick test drive and to start break in.  Shot 200 rounds of 180 grain (lead and jacketed) that goes 1275-1325 fps out the pipe.  It did great with just a couple failures to lock the slide back.  Very accurate.  Smoothest trigger I have had from any of my 1911's.  I have and or still have Baer's, Nighthawks, STI's, Colts and many others.  I put this gun up there with the best.  Fit and finish are outstanding.  I also have a Dan Wesson Razorback in 10 that I like very much.  The two upgrades I am doing to my Razorback, this gun already has.  Front checkering and better sights.  Will be running another 300 rounds before I call it broke in but I would carry it now with confidence.  Here are a few pics to prove this is based on a true story.
Target is 15 yards off hand first two mags.

Beautiful.
We should all have blemished guns like that.

Nice grouping too.

I saw where you had a slide stop break and peening on your Razor.  Did not see what happen with your feed ramp.  The slide stop and peening can happen on any 1911.  The peening is usually a easy fix if it happens.  I was surprised to see your slide stop break though.  Dan Wesson uses very high quality parts.  Have seen a Wilson Bullet Proof break also though so it can happen. Luck of the draw I guess.  By the way, did you install a Flat Bottom Firing Pin stop and 25lb hammer spring when you had your Razor?  Those are a must with any 10mm 1911 and are already on order for this one.  Saves a lot of beating on the frame.

Thank you.  Bet just about anyone could group well with this thing.  She is accurate.

I didn't change the hammer spring or block. My feed ramp experienced a groove from the bullet nose.

Gotcha.

Are you sure you want to do the sights? They look pretty great.

I also have a Razorback.  That is the one getting sights.  Really like these.  Should of sent the Razorback to Dan Wesson for these sights.

Dan Wesson has some exceptional quality control. I would have no concerns buying another blem from them after my 715.

It came with a sheet indicating the locations of the blems. All the "Pits" them mention except one require a magnifying glass and good eyes. The only other thing, the mating of the crane arm to the frame has a slight deviation of less than .003" and they marked it down for that too. I can barely notice it if I am really looking hard. Smith and Wesson would have sent that bad boy out as perfect.

I would be VERY tempted for that price with no noticeable blems.

Given the quality control I have seen, it wouldn't surprise me to find out that Dan Wesson's rejected (won't even go out as a blem) guns would pass as new from some manufacturers.

Sad but true.  I have had some really bad examples from some of the top manufactures in the last decade.  kudos to Dan Wesson.  I will buy more.
