RIA 10mm

Hello, I am new to the forum and about to pull the trigger on a 10mm purchase. I had a Glock 20 that I traded for a few years ago and let it slip away for something else. I have regretted it ever since. I love the round. This time I want a 1911 and I have it narrowed down to A rock Island Ultra. I have been researching them and cannot find anything the is deterring me from buying one. I thought I would check inhere to get opinions and experiences. Thanks in advance.. Steve

Have a single stack 6 inch 10mm RIA, went back and has been perfect ever since.

SteveS2, I have a single stack RIA in 10mm and haven't had any problem with it from day one. Shoots very well, and throws the brass a country mile ${$default_smiley_smiley}$

I also have a RIA single stack. I had to clearance the slide latch to solve a problem with the slide locking open midway through a magazine.. easy fix and not worth sending back to have repaired. I did put in a flat firing pin stop and change the recoil and main spring but I am very happy with it now!

Ottoman, I am having the same problem with my RIA 10mm. I emailed RIA and they sent me some instructions on where to file. I have also seen other info on the web that gives a different place on the slide stop to file. I have done some filing to both places but don't see any changes yet. The gun seems to work fine with the one factory mag and Wilson Combat mags but it locks back prematurely with MecGar and Metalform mags. Could you give me a bit more info as to what you did to fix it? Thank you!

I appreciate all the reviews on the RIA's. What in yalls opinion could be done to slick up the RIA to make it better if anything. I am seeing the mag problems above but I mean trigger works, slide work etc.

GCW16.. I believe I put one round in a mag... removed the slide and put the slide stop pin back in and slid the mag in.. was easy to see where the interference was... after I did some grinding it was better but not totally gone but I could see the copper transfer on the pin from the bullet hitting it. It was easy to grind away that spot until the issue was resolved. Do a search, I saw some threads on this issues with good pics.. found a pic for you.

Thanks ottoman. I had seen that before but it is different from what RIA told me to do. I will try again and take some more material off.
