I've order a RIA 52000 (double stack) which has a 6" barrel. I  plan on hunting with this pistol and thinking about an RMR dual illumination. I need some recommendations on two holsters and RMR mounting solutions for LPA/TRT sight setup:

1. RH hip holster with a thumb break
2. Chest holster for hunting (looking at Diamond D Custom)

PS: Any and all recommendations welcome

Do you have a link for them?
I've been looking for a holster for my Rock 6" pro single stack.

My brother loves his stuff (Clark Fork Leather = Great quaility). I didn't realize he offered a 6" 1911 holster until I asked him. Check out Chris' youtube videos.

PS: You can email him and he will respond quickly to your questions. chris@clarkforkleather.com

I am looking for a holster for an RIA 52000 as well. Due to the longer length and variety of weaponlights it's tough to find a holster. I am going take a shot at making a kydex holster that I can mount on a conventional belt or a war belt(PALS). I am really interested in what you are using for an RMR mount. I have had a hard time finding LPA style sight to MRD adapters. Did you find one that would fit or mill your slide? And if so, where?

TXCOONDOG

No, I haven't started looking for anyone to mill the slide.

Ascinder,

I finally talked my wife into taking the CHL class which she did and passed (100 on written and 241 on the shooting) using my Sig P938.

She wanted her own pistol so I used the money set aside for the RMR to buy her a carry gun.

Needless to say, the RMR has been put on the back burner for a while.

FYI- My original idea was to use the RMR 1911 Novak cut mount to see if I liked it before having my slide milled and add raised sight for co-witness.

Edit : Did some researching:

EGW shows a LPA/TRT mount ($49.99) for a J point and Delta Point so I emailed them to see if they can make the same LPA/TRT mount for a 1911(Novac) and a RMR.

I emailed Trijicon to see if thier RMR mount will fit the LPA/TRT cutout.

Helix Gunsmithing has a listing on thier website to cut the slide for installing a red dot such as a Trijicon RMR, Delta Point or Burris Fast fire. $145.00 which includes refinishing cut zone.

EGW's reply:

Hello,

Sorry to say that we do not offer any mounts for the RMR. It has a proprietary dove tail. Sorry we could not help.

you can try contacting Gordon Dellwo at Paradise valley leather for the chest holster options--- it seems he will try to accommodate buy making custom holsters too (he's making me one for my 52000 right now --but not sure if he does cut-outs for optics)

took my holster on my elk hunt this year--- field report:

**fit was perfect--it never slipped or moved the whole time, nice to have my gun where I could get to it if I needed it (yes there are bear in the area still)

**straps adjust easily so when changing layers it is easily changed for either over or under jackets and multiple layers of clothing (low was 6 degrees up on the hill before sunrise, highs were in the mid 50's so jackets and shirts had to be changed for temp so as not to sweat in the cold or overheat in the day)

** nice to have the nylon straps as I did remove the rig late in the day and just fold the straps and tossed it in my pack, also nice when back at the truck, the straps/holster fold flat and sit on the truck seat right next to me on the dark road back to the cabin

** only drawback i had was that the fully loaded double stack 10mm RIA 52000 (200gr wfn ammo) was heavy @ just about 4 pounds--- my longest day of walking was actually over 14 hours on the hill and a full 8.5 hours on my feet traversing the mountain following fresh elk track--this lead to a sore spot on my left shoulder where all the weight is on the 1 strap---I spoke with Gordon from PVL and he is sending me a newly designed shoulder pad that spreads the weight out for heavy guns like mine

*** guys, Gordon is A+ #1 best guy/company I have ever dealt with for customer service---he clearly wants all his customers to be 100% happy with their holster--hands down I would recommend him if you are thinking of a holster for your pistol

Pics and review are in the gear section http://10mm-firearms.com/gearequipment/pvl-chest-holster-review/  ...only difference is that Gordon sent me a shoulder pad to add to it so it spreads the weight out...pvl website has a good pic of the shoulder pad in the chest holster section
