Belling/Expanding 9mm Case Mouth Question

I am trying to get my Hornady bullet feeding die to work properly and the manual says to flare the case mouth to .385" but this isn't enough for the case to trigger the die and release the bullet 100% of the the time. I have played around with this and it seems to work flawlessly if I flare the cases to .390. With FMJ I have no issues but with coated bullets (same diameter as FMJ) 1 out of 10 fail to feed.

Any thoughts on this? I can't really find any specs on case mouth flaring.

Thanks

It may be that different brass, have different thicknesses and that may be causing you some of the problems.  I flair just enough to accept the base of the bullet in use.  Just be careful not to over expand as that could present a set back issue.

Kramer, on my hornady bullet feed die, I had to take my die apart and work the fingers a little bit to get it to work 100% of the time. I used my allen wrench for my rcbs pro 2000 press. Worked perfect.
