I own a Glock in 10mm. Had a 21 before that I put thousands of tounds through it. Am thinking of selling it and looking for a Rock Island Arms 1911 in 10mm. Would love to hear anyones thoughts on the RIA 1911 before I purchase....

I had a new G40 tricked out with an expensive aftermarket trigger and a barrel. I never liked the striker-fired trigger compared to a 1911. It simply wasn't as accurate or at least I could never make it shoot as accurate as a 1911. I showed it to some other guys in the club I belong to. They are all excellent shots. They agreed that the trigger stank compared to a decent 1911.

So I got the Match Ultra which can shoot circles around the Glock.  If you read my review that was posted on this site you'll get all the details.

If you want the capacity of the Glock in 1911 form, definitely check out the double stack Rock Island Armory.  I'm looking into possibly picking one up myself.  It's the Rock series Ultra FS HC.  Killer deal for the money in my opinion.  Then again I am a fan of double stack handguns because my hands are rather large.

Edit: only real negative to me about the Rock Island 1911's is they only come with one magazine but I have heard of them shipping with two now although I have only heard that once after watching reviews on YouTube.

I had a horrible experience with a RIA 10mm two summers ago. I shipped it back twice and they finally offered me my money back or choice of any other of their 1911s. I took the mone y and never looked back. They paid for the shipping both times also. I had to dig in to make that happen and I am glad I did. Russ

I bought one of the 5" standard models last year.

It had to go back to the mothership due to some barrel issues but it came back shooting outstanding.

I picked up a 6" Pro Match and it's been flawless since day one.

Some would say it's a bit expensive for a Rock but I think it's the best value out there for a 6".

I picked up a standard 5" model last year also. Have not had any problems with it, shoots well and looks great too.

I own a commander size that was customized by Reeder and the gun is really accurate heavy slide but built like a tank. It can get finicky about COL but other than that a nice gun.

Now I also, own a model 40 MOs with a LW BBL and Zevtach full trigger assembly. That Glock shoots very accurate as accurate as the custom 1911 in 10mm so I have and will keep both along with the model 21 SF I have.

All good.

I've had the RIA 1911 FS for about 6 months. Seems very good, though this is my first 1911 of any caliber. I've had to tune the extractor tension to get the cases to eject reliably but that's about it. Oh and my front sight came loose on my last trip to the range but that's easily fixed too.

Mine came with 2 magazines and very aggressive VZ grips.

I've heard good things about the RIA match ultra 6 inch slide. They seem to be built well and shoot very good. I wouldn't mind having one myself, that being said, I have a Glock 40 6 inch slide that has been flawless, a real tack driver at least for me it is and it's quite a bit cheaper than the RIA.

I have two- the double stack ultra and mid length
They shoot very nice.  The way the guns are sprung they don't like watered down 10.  But heck neither do I!!
