Great info in these threads. I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on either the Hunter or Match EAA. My main purpose will be as a side arm back up when black bear hunting. The reading I've done says that the match had issues with cracks even used with heavy loads. Is this still an issue

I think any issues were with models below the match. I've had a match 10mm with no issues and still have limited elite.
haven't owned hunter model. Witness 10mm pistols are fine guns. it comes down to the size and length of barrel you desire.

4.75" match
6" hunter

as a backup in comes down mostly to training, not gun selection IMHO
Witness is a better gun, but I would choose Glock 20 for this application. YMMV

The match will most likely crack between the mag release home and the grip panel on the left side.  Mine did.  It affects function in no way and unless you look hard you won't notice.  I would not hesitate to buy one because of this non issue issue.

Your Match that cracked was a newer issue, or before they put the relief cut in that area?

Pre-cut.  It is the "Old" style pre-rail as well.

I think the new ones with cut and rail are tanks!
