Hi, new to forum but not 10mm. Have had a 1066 forever, had a RIA (gone), kimber eclipse (gone), and a 29 and a 20.
Looking at witnesses and may start reloading. Been on here a lot and figured I should get off m y duff and join.

Good to see you over here! So which Witness did you decide on?

Bluefish,  welcome to the forum!  EAA has a great line of 10mm's like the Stock I II, Limited, Match, Hunter and to include the Witness line up.

Now about the handloading...You don't have to get real fancy with a setup but quality goes a long way with the right tools over years of use.  I can't tell you how many thousands of rounds I have loaded on my RCBS Jr. press since 1979.  That little press has handled 30'06 and other rifle case sizing but the stroke and leverage are not ideal for sizing those long rifle cases.
I usually recommend a RCBS Rock Chucker which has compound leverage as a good starter press and especially the kit for having many necessary things to get you going.  Add in a set of dies and if you spend the $300 on the RCBS products you can claim the $75 rebate to offset some cost.

They are many other quality press makers to include Lyman, Dillon, Hornady, Redding and Lee.  Some offer a LIFETIME warranty!  There are progressive presses and you tend to get what you pay for and with the accessories it can add up to a small fortune.

Best regards!  :D

Welcome aboard.

I have two witness guns, a standard full-size and an Elite Match.  Both are great 10mm guns.  I also have a Glock 20 and 29, and a Para P-16/10mm.

I echo Shadow's comments about reloading gear and would add this.  If you need to cheap out a bit to get started, do it.  I started with an RCBS kit.  The press and scales I wouldn't trade for anything, and the powder drop is a good piece too.  But, I prime with a Lee auto-prime, not the RCBS one.  And the most used press I have is a Lee Reloader, mostly because it was small and light enough to make portable.

Best advice I have for a new reloader is just do it.  Buy what you can afford.  Until you have reloaded for a while, you won't have the experience to know what YOU need, and I can't tell you cause I do it different.

welcome from another new guy! if you get a Witness you won't be disappointed. I love mine.
check out the turret presses. they aren' quite as fast as a progressive press but having all your dies mounted at once really speeds up the reloading process. I am still using the same 6 hole Lyman turret press I started loading with in 1980. most reloading equipment lasts a LONG time so get what suits you.

Hi, the Springfield trp set me back a bit so I am still reading and pondering. The stock 2, 3, limited pro, and the hunter all grab me and this is gonna be a tough choice. The limited is beautiful but I will never game with it and think it might be wasted on me.
As far as reloading, I have an old Lee set I bought off my maintenence guy years ago, will probably upgrade, looking at redding.
Thanks for the welcome, I will b around. Russ

Just a quick update, I have limited pro and 3 extra mags on its way. Tomorrow,  Thursday at the latest. Heading up to Rangeley lake for a long weekend, plenty of pits to plink in.
Excited to try the new 10, been wanting one for years.  Russ
