I'm glad to see some stepping out of the comfort zone to attempt to promote what many of us already know about the 10mm and it ballistic potential.  One of the reasons I like this forum is to properly educate and debunk the myths surrounding our loved cartridge and guns chambered for the beast!

It all has to do with the relentless BRAINWASHING!  Its a 1911 45ACP it is cover to cover (cover to cover) this
picture, that mention, that maker, this size or even another caliber like it is the only firearm to exist and spread throughout every gun publication as though no other firearm exist...if you think differently "you're a Bigot"!  These publications are paid to push the maker's wares regardless of the other stories...  It seems every gun maker with a CNC mill is producing a 1911 CLONE in some fashion, size or caliber these days!

They FBI's use of the 10mm was neutered from the start as they placed certain criteria that framed its potential to suit their particular needs.  But hey it also created production of some of the very best 10mm handguns to be made by S&W.  It is why I chose the S&W1006 as my first 10mm handgun and I was never more satisfied with the robust reliability it brought to the experience over the years.  I managed to obtain the Bar-Sto Match Grade 40S&W conversion barrel to make use of all of that 40S&W brass I had been getting.  Also Mike McNett of Double Tap had commissioned some Bar-Sto Match Grade barrels chambered in 9x25Dillon and he had one for a S&W1006 as "New Old Stock" so I jumped on that just because it was interesting! :o

As the years progressed and S&W quit producing replacement parts, I moved over to the simplest and cheapest platform that was chambered of the big 10mm, the Glock 29 for my everyday needs.  I will say I was skeptical at first with the "PLASTIC FANTASTIC TUPPERWARE GUN" but it has proved to be reliable, traded frame weight for extra rounds in a compact package.  What this pistol did was make me shoot and test more knowing the gun had some looser dimensions and what some others said they were doing with theirs.  Oh and the flexibility of conversion barrels that provided the use of the 40S&W, 357Sig and 9x25Dillon.  So that being said a G-20SF happened along in a package deal, so I snapped that one up to also add to not only the collection but to the fun of shooting and load development with it as well in various calibers with conversion barrels as well.  :P

With the obsession which is still very strong today, the talk of the Fortis Bren Ten remake from VLTOR burned strongly, not knowing if I would ever see let along find a Original Bren Ten.  I went as far as putting up the prepaid monies on the UNOBTANIUM Fortis with the BPS near me, only to recover these funds one year later to the day.  It was scheduled to be a birthday present to me... :(

Low an behold a fellow in the Baton Rouge area who I met through a local gun forum had a REAL original Bren Ten Standard Model and I had introduced him to our forum and the Bren Ten forums at the time, to help him.  After I recouped my funds he posted his BT for sale on the local forum!  I don't think the transmitted bits were finished being uploaded I fired off a private message to arrange for the procurement of this pistol sight unseen!  He and I came to a agreeable deal and he delivered it to me! ;D  Did I mention something about the addiction? ???

Sorry for rambling on and on but the passion and addiction burns as much today as it did in the 80's when this cartridge and firearms started to become reality.  That old S&W1006 was purchased back in March of 1990, 26 plus years ago and I loaded ammo for it even before the gun was in my hands and not much load data was printed.  My much relied on stash of Blue Dot made the very first loads back then that were capable of hitting skeet on the 130 yard bern and even hitting some of the pieces...

Read the story and the comments.

What a bunch of wimps.

I can understand that the ammo can be expensive and hard to find. But once you look and get into it you can find it cheap.

I find 10mm for under $20 a box of 50 in NYS. Sigs for $28 and Remingtons and Blazers for less than $30. The good stuff costs the same as .45's.

I know you loaders do it cheaper and at even less cost.

10-4

Well I did my part to help the 10mm "become more popular".  Bought a Glock 20 and a bunch of ammo.  I don't see the big deal with "this beast"... it's a full size gun with quite a few rounds in the magazine, and the recoil is moderate in my experience.  I can shoot that 20 accurately and with no pain.  Does it have a mean muzzle blast?  You bet, and that's a negative in my opinion.  If I ever have to pull the trigger in a car or in the house, without hearing protection, I'm going to be repeating the word "huh?" for many years.  Guess that applies to most other cartridges too.

I get a kick out of the internet arguments: it's good, no it's bad.  It's too powerful, no it's fine.  It's hard to find ammo, no I find it all the time.  Ammo is expensive, no I find it online for the same as many other rounds.  It's a Glock so that means it jams, no it's a Glock so that means it's reliable.  You're an idiot for not shooting a 1911, no you're an idiot for using your mothers computer when she's not home.

I posted on the article. Maybe a few people will try it, tell their friends, so on, and so on...

I figured the 10mm had "arrived" when I saw Aluminum cased Blazer ammo for it.

There has been 10mm blazer ammo for as long as I can remember.  I know for certain it was available 6-7 years ago.  I think it was available 23-24 years ago when I bought my first Delta.

Hey 10-4. I put ear plugs in the car if I can apply them fast enough. One piece setup. Keep them within reach at home. Again, if situation allows.
