Ok guys

I got my Glock 20 in hand and plan to shoot 165, 180, and 200 grain bullets from it. I am ordering 1k Starline brass today and plan to get powder this week as well.

What powder? Longshot looks really promising as does Blue Dot. What else should I look at. I plan to only use ONE powder for the 10 as I already have too many on hand as is.

I need the one powder to cover the caliber. It doesn't have to be the fastest just a good broad spectrum 10mm powder.

Bluedot is my go to powder.

I am trying to find some. I have found LS and AA9 in 8 pound kegs.

I love Blue Dot, used it long before I got the 10mm in March 1990 and started using it in my very first 10mm loads before book published data was available.  It is not the powder for the fastest bullets but it does perform well, I have had some of my most accurate with Blue Dot in many cartridges and especial with 10mm at distance.

Now I will say, I have used many different powders over the years, but I am into Alliant's BE-86 powder lately for the ease of powder measuring, the balance of performance, velocity and economics across many cartridges with this powder.

LongShot has been used to bring out the higher velocities but it's used above the published data to get there.  I load my upper  end velocity loads with LongShot and 800X, however they are all hand weighed and verified and loaded on a single stage press.

BE-86 is on my very, very short list to try out.  Seems to pack about the same energy as Blue Dot into less grains, therefore less money.

Thanks guys!

How about HS-6? I can get my hands on it as well.

Right now, LS and AA#9 are the two I am leaning towards choosing from.

HS-6 has some uses as well, I would suggest you study the data at Hodgdon's website for each cartridge you want to load for to get a feel for its potential and yield with various bullet weights. https://www.hodgdon.com/

If you can find the Hodgdon's 2016 annual manual publication it has over 5000+ loads for many cartridges.  Good data for your money value!

I have it and I have pet loads as well.

Just trying to feel out you guys. I like to get opinions from a group like this before I buy in bulk.

HS6 is a bit fast.  Good for plinking loads, but you won't get much beyond 40S&W levels with it.

That's what I was thinking from my research on it.

My favorites in descending order.

800x (my favorite 10mm powder, but MUST hand weigh)
AA#7
PowerPistol (especially lighter bullets)
Longshot (heavier bullets-likes to be pushed)
BE-86 -won't win velocity contest but good powder

If I had to depend on only one powder it'd be #7 or Longshot.

Since the most important of my 10mm loads are built for hunting and bear defense I'm stickin with BlueDot. I get better accuracy with it than Longshot or 800X.

I load for 9mm, 10mm, 45 and 44 Magnum (and several rifle calibers too) so, like you, I'm working down to two or three powders to handle these handgun cartridges. The fast burning powders such as bullseye, 231/HP38, universal etc. can all handle plinkin loads for all these cartridges so that leaves me with a need for powders to deliver full power accurate hunting loads for 10mm and 44 Magnum. Blue Dot will deliver for both the 10mm and 44 Magnum. Although, I haven't worked up any 44 Magnum loads with Blue Dot yet so I may find I need to pick up a pound or two of 296 if BlueDot doesn't deliver.

Your requirements would be well served by Accurate no. 7.

Ok guys

I am about to order 4 pounds each of #7 and Long Shot
