Someting to be said about Glocks..

I have and enjoy all sorts of guns....my favorites on the handgun side are 1911s and Glocks...I have others and they're fine. Recently I bought a Rock Island 1911 in 10mm..it had an ambi-safety, which I don't like..so I ordered one from Fusion...and ended up having to take it to a gunsmith to get fitted....it isn't going to cost me much at all,,but, one thing about Glocks I've noticed....I've never had to have a part fitted...whether it was Glock originals or some aftermarket part for my triggers, it went right in, no muss, no fuss..

I still love 1911s,,,but Glock gets a lot of things right...

Glock were designed for a clearance fit on parts from the get go.  1911's were designed for an interference fit.

This is a thing that Glock's got "right".  It is just different.

Picking on the 1911 because things require fitting is like buying a car with a manual transmission and then complaining you have to shift the gear.  Just how it is designed.

That said, I like both and think there is a place for both.

Glock's and 1911's, two very different animals that's for sure. Both have there place though.

I too like them both but I think Glock makes the better 10mm platform, I've had previous issues with 10mm 1911's.

The Glock 20 and 29 were designed around the 10mm, and then re-chambered to 45 ACP.  That certainly gives them a leg up IMHO in dealing with the higher pressure and slide velocity of the 10mm.

A 1911 can work great, but it takes someone who understands the platform really well to set up a 1911 to run it right.

And even then you are at best looking at half the MRBS.

I'm not picking on 1911s, I love'em...but it's an observation.

I shoot better with a 1911 than with a Glock, although in general I seem to shoot better, (I'm talking target type shooting) with a double action revolver such as my GP-100.

When I'm shooting at bad guy type scenario targets, I'm better with the 1911.

But when I go to Memphis or St Louis I tend to carry my G-22 with an extra mag...can't be too careful...I don't have a license or the money for a crew served weapon for my pickup.

And while I don't keep that meticulous a record of my shots, I can't remember ever having a stoppage on any Glock, and I have owned three.  I can't say the same for my 1911's.  And I have owned three.

I love the 1911, and did carry it for years.  But the fact of the matter is on a mean rounds between stoppage stat, the Glock is a more consistent platform.

My EAA Witness guns have a  similar track record to the Glocks, excepting the 200 round break-in window with the standard full-size.  But, they are much larger and heavier than the Glock.  And that matters for carry.
