Quick 2

I just wanted to say thanks to all the guys who take the time to do the factory pull downs. I'm not even going to try to name all of you but this is the best source for true 10mm load data I have found. I was intimidated at first when I seen the load data but after loading and shooting a lot of the loads this is my go to reloading manual for the 10mm. I like reading the post here also and the mods on this site are a great bunch of guys. When the 10mm came out in the 80's it caught my interest and finally about 2 years ago I bought a 10mm but the data that was published in all the manuals I could get my hand on were the lite loads. Frustrated I googled and finally found this form. It's funny that I have been on here for around 2 years and I am still a Newbie but thats fine I am more of a reader that a poster but I have been posting a little more. I have always felt comfortable here no squabbling back and forth like on most sights. I can even ignore you guys singing the praises of the G Lock. Gotta kid around about the G Lock I just don't like them. If need I will attach a butt hurt form for bad mouthing the G locks. But seriously thanks for the dedication and work Y'all put into this site.

Quick 2, the thank yous are a very welcomed!  It was Intercooler that sort of got things kicked off.  He was buying all of the different makes and bullet weights of commercial ammo and recording the velocities, but that didn't tell the whole story.  He ask me if I could and would be interested in doing the documentations.

Being a long time handloader and having the tools and resources to makes these pull-downs possible and being retired allowed me to take on the task.  Documentations and record keeping was a vital part of my work with the Fire service, so my being anal about accuracy and attention to details are what I apply to the task!

It was also a learning process for myself, being on a limited budget over the years, I didn't experience much commercial ammo, because I was loading all of my own stuff.  At first the stuff Intercooler was sending he wanted me to shoot and record the velocities.  However the range I was shooting at got very busy and I didn't get to shoot as often as necessary.  The cost of ammo and the shear volume of stuff added up, so after I put the ammo back together, I started sending it back to him.  Some of the guys had ammo that was no longer being made and they wanted to keep their stuff, but still wanted to learn what what was inside, so I offered to document what was found to preserve the History, put the ammo back together precisely and send the ammo back to those that participated in the pull-downs.

This has shown several things as time progressed as the shortages of powders and other components all but crippled the boutique shops.  Doing the documentations has shown that some powders had been switched due to lack of supply.  This presented a challenge for me to study and find supporting data to make the best determinations of powders I had never worked with or were not even available from my suppliers.  Actually one of the commercial loaders sent samples of several different powders for me to study and even test to confirm the findings of some loads.

We even have some members that are also taking some of their ammo apart and also documenting what they are seeing and not just 10mm.  I applaud their work and will help any way possible with their efforts.  So it is truly a teamwork process overall.

The preservation and documentations of the older ammo that is no longer being made for one reason or another also played into this project.  The sudden death of Michael Willard of SwampFox Ammunition put me on a mission as well.  He and I used to chat on GlockTalk and private message up until his untimely passing.  So I did some of the documentations as a tribute to him...

Once again I am glad that our work is being appreciated... ;D

I have been reloading since I was 17 and I will be 55 this year so i have not fired a lot of factory ammo either. My problem is I find a powder I like and it's very hard for me to use anything else. But then came the shortage I was stocked up because I knew what was coming. LongShot is my favorite pistol powder. I have shot many different powders over the years but there has been a lot of new powders added. With the data from Underwood and Longshot I wasn't afraid to try since I carry Underwood Ammo. 800x also has peaked my interest. I am medically retired and my wife is going to have to do the same. She inherited her dad's heart problems. My son who is 12 loves to shoot and is very good I am hoping scholarship. My wife carries a Ruger SR 9c and my son is trying his best to take my M&P 9mm away from me so he will be getting his on 9mm for Christmas. Thats why I gave the coated bullets a try. The $1 a can spray enamel works just as well a the epoxy. so for practice ammo this will allow us to continue practicing. With the 22lr shortage I can load 9mm with the bullets I cast myself and shot 9mm as cheap as 22lrs. I knew the factory pull downs was a huge task to tackle crossing every t and dotting every i. But it seem you guy's are like me and firearms are your passion. And being anal about the data I am thankful for. I'm the same way. I knew there was more than one who listed data on the pull downs but just couldn't remember the names. Again Thanks it's like Christmas when I go to the pull downs I find a load I want to tweak a little. I have several pages of data where I copy and pasted saved on my computer and printed.

That's good to hear the pull-downs help people. I also wanted to know in case I took up reloading at some point down the road. Right now buying ammo works for me due to time and wanting to shoot more.

I'll too am grateful for the work done to provide such a great resource. When I first started looking at reloading 10mm, I knew what range I wanted my rounds to be loaded for. I scoured my manuals and handloading resources for a recipe that would put me there. I found one I thought might work, but it used 800X and I couldn't find many reports of others using it with a 10mm. I gave it a try and liked the results, then imagine my surprise when I come here and find the pull downs and find that the factory rounds I was trying to emulate are, in fact, using 800X. Without the hard work you gentlemen have put in many of us might still be out here floundering around. Thank you.
