Colt, or any manufacturer, won't fix a problem they don't recognize as a problem, whether or not the problem actually exists. The Colt pistols fire factory ammo just fine, consistently and reliably. Problems may arise with handloads and overpressure boutique ammo. Colt firearms, along with every other brand name I'm aware of, come with the same disclaimer, clearly stating the warranty will not be honored if other than the correct caliber factory ammo is used. Essentially, there's nothing to fix. If you don't like a pistol, for any reason, no one is under any obligation to buy it. They don't appear to be hurting for business.

I for one don't have ONE single problem with my Colt Delta Elite and I mean NONE!! And I shoot 180g. loads that are 1200 fps and loads that are north of 1300 fps and that includes Underwood and my reloads with 800X with no signs of pressure on the spent casing. I also shoot Underwood 155 gr fmj and that has hit over 1500 fps from my Colt,  but I have found about 6 casing that had the smiley faces on them and that's it.
My point is the Colt will handle 99% of the 10mm stuff out there !! My God if you need to push a 180gr faster then 1340 fps or a 155 Gr past 1500 fps :o then get a .41 mag or a TC in 10mm or a wheel gun. I own both a fully ramp Kimber and my Colt Delta and I can't see any difference in the way my brass looks.
And that's my take on it, and for the record when I go out shooting I will grab my Colt more often then my Kimber.

Please don't take my previous remarks about Colt as an indication that I think there is anything wrong with their guns.  I miss my Delta Elite, wish I had never sold it.

And I would not pass on a deal on another one.  I would very much enjoy having one in my arsenal again.

But, part of what you are paying for is the name on the side. I would like to think there was a time when the name Colt really meant something.  But I don't think that is true anymore.

I just sold my Kimber 10mm with the rail so this new Delta is going to be very tempting.  The Kimber is hard to beat - ramped barrel, front strap checkering, grip safety, and night sights.  There was nothing wrong with mine, just should have skipped the rail.  Going with 14 gt-500's observations with his Delta sounds like it should be good to go.

I just got my Kimber Eclipse  back after they had it for 6+weeks and I put about a little over 100rds through it after I got it back, and I can say that I do think they fixed all the problems that I had, however yesterday when I was taking it apart after shooting I noticed that right above the trigger on the right hand side were it says Kimber and some numbers there is 4 light scratches in the gun that weren't there before !! It looks like it could have been caused buy putting the gun in a vise of some sort. So now what do I call Kimber back up and send the gun in for another 6 weeks or live with it.    P.S there is 5 of them and there is no way that I done that there are all so uniform.

Kimber scratched my Eclipse when I sent it in. It was a pain to get them to fix it. They redid the slide but put a small idiot scratch that can only be seen when the slide was locked back. I did not bother to send it in a 3rd time because the gun ran great and everything else was perfect.

Tell Kimber what happened and let them know you took pictures of the gun BEFORE you sent it in.

If you have no proof they will not entertain the complaint.

The Eclipse is a very beautiful gun that scratches up easily, mine is more of a safe queen than a shooter. I fire my Razorback and Delta way more.

Do you think I should even attempt to maybe try and polish them out with something like toothpaste?? I sure hate to send the pistol back in since it does work now and something else could happen to it. It really pisses me off!!

I don't think you can buff it out. Its a special finish.

Well, I just took my new Delta Elite out on her maiden voyage. Standard model, not the Lipsey's version. I am happy but also not so happy. I had a box of Remington 180gr TC rounds as a first try. I then shot two lots of 50 rounds I reloaded with virgin Starline brass, Rainier 180 TC bullets, 50@ 8.5gr Longshot and then 50@9.0gr Longshot. Had never fired a 10mm before. Read much about the unsupported chamber. My findings:

1. All rounds fired perfectly, no signs of pressure, and no bulges in brass from the unsupported chamber in the Remington or 8.5gr loads with Longshot. 9.0gr Longshot cases did show a slight bulge at the web but not so much that it is questionable to reload. Felt recoil did increase as I shot the reloads after factory Remington. Wish I had a chronograph.

2. Trigger was great, I was smiling the whole time, loved it, and now the 10mm is a cartridge I will fall in love with.

3. Beavertail sucked. Cut my thumb web up in first 15 shots. Need to get a full beavertail fitted. Accuracy was great first 100 rounds, then I think the added recoil and maceration of my right web ruined my grouping.

4. Ejection port not flared. The edge of the ejection port creased every single casing that ejected, 1/2 down the side of the casing, and flung it very far forward and 20' to the right. Why is an $1100 Colt pistol not flared? I didn't notice or think of it when I bought her. Just food for thought to those contemplating one. BUT the brass is so badly creased I doubt I will attempt to reload any until I get the port flared properly.

5. The magazines all functioned flawlessly as did the Colt. The sights are OK, but would like Novak or Heinie style. And a skeletonized trigger. Had I know about the Lipsey's version I would have gotten that.

In the end I need a port flaring job, and a full sized beavertail. Might as well get sights added while in the shop. Maybe even a bead blasted finish. Another $800. Oh well, I still like the Colt and will keep her, but just wish Colt would throw in a couple extras if they are charging that price. Like a Harley, always going to cost you something when you need to improve it or maintain it! Just my 2 cents.

Wow mine throws the brass to the right and between my shooting hand and shoulder, and it will send them all of 20 ft. But no damage brass what so ever. And I'm with you all the way about Colt should have put a beavertail grip safety, as mine also cut me up a little bit yesterday shooting some stout loads and it hurts and causes bad shooting habits. And they should have put on better sights and a target trigger, but at the end of the day I still like mine  :)    P.S you might want to send the gun back to Colt because of the damage brass issues.

Plenty of guys here will take that brass if you are just going to six it.  It may split earlier but I have no problem with a crease.

These are now available. I have one inbound!

When is it scheduled to arrive?  Let us know if the barrel has changed, and of course pics are required.

Well, Brent just replied to the other forum thread - no barrel change but ejection port is lowered and flared.  Not what we wanted to hear.
