Did some indoor night range trigger time today and took the Hunter on its maiden voyage.

50 rounds of Armscor, 50 Blazer, 10 Buffalo Bore 180, 5 BB 220, 10 PMC 170, 10 Silvertips and 5 Hornady 155's. Mixed up in 3 magazines.

Ran perfect! (Only issue was only 9 Blazer aluminums would fit in the mags, the brass all 10)

This is a real nice quality gun, well worth it.

One of the best 10mm's you can own! Only 10 rounds huh?

Wolfie

10 round magazines only in NY.

IC the Hunter came with 3 springs. Do you know what kind of spring is in the gun as it came from the factory? It shot the Armscor like it was a 9mm but the Buffalo Bore 180's were stronger. I need to learn how to dial the springs in.

Also do you know if this 6 inch 40 conversion is a drop in.

Thanks

All the springs that come with it aren't rated for 10mm. It beats me why they put 10-12lb springs in there! Put a 20lb in and shoot everything on that spring.

The barrel is a direct replacement. You might have to remove a little bit on the barrel hood at the top to fit it.

Congrats on getting a Witness. I love mine.
usually an extra power firing pin spring comes with the aftermarket spring kits.

Wolfie

You can get 9mm, .40, ,45 and 38 Super in these longslide conversion kits. They are just way expensive, you can get a Witness new cheaper.

The only spring I have changed in any of mine is the recoi?. I'm still running all original everything else. They just run and do it well!

Wolfie

I called EAA to order the 6 inch .40 barrel. The person said the Hunter is a stand alone model and cannot be converted with a barrel or long slide swap. The long slide conversions are for 5 inch models.

Oh well

sqlbullet

IC, do you have any experience swapping parts onto a Hunter?  This seems odd to me given the level of interchange on the rest of their guns.  And it seems like EAA may be wrong given the history of they quality of their CS.

I have swapped 40 S&W barrels in my witness match 10mm. If you can lay your hands on a six-inch 40 barrel, I don't see why that wouldn't work in the hunter

You don't need a conversion kit. The barrel diameter is the same  as a 10 mm

If it's a 6" barrel, it will fit! I actually put a 9mm 6" barrel in my 10mm Hunter and it worked decent.

I would just shoot cheap 10mm instead of .40 if that's your goal.

sqlbullet

There you go.  Order the 6" barrels with confidence despite what EAA says.

Wolfie

Thanks guys, she said the 6 inch would work in the smaller guns not the Hunter, and thats why they do not make 40 caliber magazines for it.

I will just leave it as is for now.
