On guns, Merrick voted for en banc review of a three-judge panel's opinion that a handgun ban in the nation's capital was unconstitutional, leading to speculation he disagreed. The Supreme Court later sided with the panel in District of Columbia v. Heller – a major 2008 win for gun rights advocates that Republicans often vow to protect.

If the GOP does not let him in, its all over for us. Mark it down the Ds are going to win the senate with that on 1/1/17 the most liberal anti gun judge will be on the bench.

It is bad, but not life ending.

The SC only gets to rule on cases that make it there.  We had the novelty of a very conservative court in recent years that made strides possible.  We may have to bide our time again.

The good news is we have the populace on our side.  Support for 2A is high and growing.  So we will gain in legislative issues, while perhaps having to back burner our judicial advances.
