Can anybody tell me if I can shoot a 9x25 Dillon in my Colt Delta Elite with just a 9X25 barrel Drop in?? And who if anyone makes a drop in barrel ?? I have been looking @ the 9x25 and it is interesting, but also can't seem to find anyone that has the reloading dies. Is this round all but dead?

Yes, you can shoot 9X25 with just a barrel swap.

But, first, no such thing as a drop in 1911 barrel.  It WILL require fitting.  $65.

Second, a semi-fit barrel is going to run you $225, and the closest you can get to 9X25 is 9mm or 38 super, so you will have to have it chamber reamed ($100 maybe?)

At this point you are into the project $390 and you haven't paid shipping yet on the barrel, to you, gun to gunsmith to fit the barrel or barrel to the shop to be reamed.  Shipping will likely be another $50 by the time you are done.  And, there will likely be some teething pains to work out.  Don't get me wrong, I love the 1911 and it predates the Glock in my 10mm stable, but being honest.

On the other hand, you can pick up a Glock 20 lightly used for $400 if you shop a bit, and can get a lone wolf 9X25 barrel that will drop in for $99.95 + shipping.  So for about $50 more you could have a Glock 20 with a 9X25 barrel.  And this is a combination that a lot of guys here have and report works pretty much flawlessly.

Do what you want.  Just pointing out that there are easier ways to get into 9X25 than your DE.

--And lest you think I am just picking on you or a Glock fan boy, this is the route I went to get a Witness in 9X25.  And life intruded so I still have a 38 super barrel that remains un-reamed.

If you decide to forge ahead the gunsmith you will need is Van Schneider at The Gunworks:

BEEMER!

I purchased my Glock 20, 9X25 barrel from Bar-Sto many years ago so they had a reamer back then.

The 9X25 is not listed anymore, but you might call them and see if you could get a semi-fitted Colt barrel special made and then have someone local fit it for you.  They list 1911 9mm and 38 super barrels.

Probably a long shot but calls are cheap.

14 GT-500, Dillon still makes the 9x25 3 die set, the sizer has a carbide for the 10mm section of the casing and also a carbide section for the 9mm neck section (this is why they are on the expensive side).  You get the Seater die with a dual ended seater plug for Truncated Cone or Round Nose profiles, and the other die is the crimp die.

You still need a neck expander (I use my RCBS 9mm neck expander and it has been great)(or a powder through the expander can be set up)...Neck tension is crucial to prevent setbacks and keep the bullets straight!

Mr. Van Schneider at The Gunworks is the person who I used to finish ream my Bar-Sto 9x25 barrel for my Smith & Wesson 1006, I will say his work was impeccable and top notch! :D

Good luck on your adventure! ;D

WOW guy's!!  :o Looks like if I want a 9x25 Dillon in a 1911 I will have some $$$ into it. I will have to table that idea. As far as Glocks go, I think there a great pistol, but not for me as I have shot a lot of them and they just don't fit my hand very well.

Well I was thinking about it :o But that thought didn't stick around very long!!

Oh man. Get a Glock 20 or 40 and outfit that beast with a LW 9x25 barrel. Ammo is available.  Dies are available. 10mm conversion dies.

My tease is someday I will be ordering a 9x25 upper for my 10mm DI AR. Yes.

Yeah.  Just get the Glock.

We aren't talking about a gun that you will carry or bet your life on, we are talking about an interesting addition to your collection.  Who cares if it fits your hands well for a 250 round qualifier or 1000 round defensive course.  This is a gun to shoot a bit at the range and maybe blow up some squirrels or rock-chuck's.

If you later decide that you have to have 9X25 in a more comfortable package, you can sell the Glock easily and use the proceeds to get you DE up to snuff.

I would further comment though, that the DE is a poor starting platform since it lacks full case head support and the benefits of a ramped barrel.  If you want a 1911 in 9X25 then a platform with a ramped barrel would be a better starting point.

Yes but I thought if I ended up getting after market 1911 barrel that it would be fully ramped anyway  ;)

That would mean two new barrels and machine work on the frame to accept them.  You can't just put a ramped barrel in ramped 1911 frame.  The frame ramp is in the way of the barrel ramp and has to be machined away.

I wish Colt would make the Delta with a ramped barrel.

Oh Boy!! My screw up Sql Bullet, Don't know what I was thinking about. I of all people should have known that since I own a Kimber that has a fully ramp barrel and the Delta Elite which doesn't. Maybe the Kimber might be a better choice for the 9x25 Dillon, but as for now I would be happy if the factory can get it to run on 10mm much less 9x25 Dillon.
Will see when I get it back from the factory.
